Mentioning someone in a discussion (do so by putting an @ before the user name) is a great way to encourage dialog and let them know who you’re talking to.

I really don't understand how all this works and sometimes reaching out for support can be a daunting task. Living with a disability of any kind is restricting and with the government's enforced isolation regime has been having an adverse effect for thousands around the world "it's not easy staying strong in uncertainty" how is it for you?

    Hello Cher,
You all wanted to know if I've asked for help, well I have just by chatting with you all. I gave it go contacting the GP awhile ago, I was given a contact number. But the GP wanted to involve the Police, I was shocked by this idea! All I felt was fear, so by approaching the GP.
Its all a step to far for me, child abuse has a very isolating affect. Which remains with you into adulthood!

Hi SOB! Cher isn't working today, so I'm just going to jump in on this.

You certainly have taken a big step by being honest and having a chat with us. I can imagine that that's extremely difficult, so thank you for sharing your experience with us.

I can understand that it must have been a bit of a shock for your GP to want to get the police involved, but I'm sure it wasn't to get you into any trouble or force you to do or say anything you weren't comfortable with.

This page on NSPCC about non-recent abuse is quite good I think: https://www.nspcc.org.uk/what-is-child-abuse/types-of-abuse/non-recent-abuse/

It outlines what non-recent abuse is, how it can affect you, and what support there is available. This includes a link to NAPAC, who you might like to get in touch with: https://napac.org.uk/

Did you express your fear to your GP at the time? Perhaps you could go back and say that you'd prefer to speak to a counsellor first? This would hopefully reduce the level of isolation and fear you're feeling. You're certainly not alone, and there are people you can talk to who can understand what you've been through.
