Can your hair change type

I don't know whether 'type' is the right word but my hair used to be dead straight, at school people would ask if I ironed or straightened it because it was so straight. I could roll out of bed and it would be perfectly straight without a kink in sight.
These last few years I've noticed the texture change and my hair just feels weird and it's now become really curly. If I wash it it ends up a big curled mess and if I comb it it goes frizzy and awful.
Not the most interesting of topics but I just wondered if it's not curly permanently and if anyone else's hair just seemed to change one day??

Yes, it can, my hair was like yours "poker straight" first as a child, then a teenager and I absolutely hated it! I had a perm when I was 15 and honestly, I looked like a poodle! It grew out and went back to being straight.
But then, I had children, it started to curl, but not nice spirals or ringlets, just frizz!
I do often straighten it now as it makes it easier to manage and I use (almost daily) intensive treatments to try and keep it healthy.
So no, it's not just you, it's definitely a thing for sure ☺️

There are many things that can change your hair texture, from hormones, to medications to the season!
I had straight hair and found since going through lots of medications for IBD the texture has changed to be quite wavy/curly when wet. Yet when I dry it, it goes frizzy and it never holds a curl I put in
Do you like it being curly?0 -
I went from having thick unmanageable hair as a child, to having normal easy to manage after having my kids then once hit menopause it changed again to fine poker straight and super easy to manage.

Hi @Biblioklept interesting thread/chat.
As the others have said - lots of things can cause a change in the texture of our hair.
Also to add to the list is vitamins and minerals a drop in consumption or our own body not holding on to the value of these can affect our hair, nails and skin. more so as we start to get older.
I also find, personally, different materials on my pillowcase can cause my hair to be frizzy.
I remember once reading in a magazine, that a silk pillow case will help make your hair shinny, i tried but all it done was cause a lot of static in my hair ha ha. x0 -
Sorry sue that made me laugh. That reminds me when I bought satin sheets once, never again1
