I just logged into my council housing register, I haven’t for years and just realised I’ve been registered and it’s still ‘live’ for 7 years , is there any way to move up bands so I can bid . I thought after years of being registered you were moved up automatically? Have no clue how it all works.

Its a very slow process with a massive shortage of Soc. housing, if any of your circumstances have changed you need to update the provider.Seasons greetings to one and all 🎄🎅🏻🌲

after I registered in 2016 I was diagnosed with pulmonary embolisms in both lungs and lung infarction. Also with other MH conditions , do you think it’s work updating this on the provider ? -
Time spent waiting does often count for a lot points wise in many areas, however if you have been inactive then I'm not sure that it will.
It's definitely worth updating them with where your health is at currently, especially if your issues would be improved by more suitable housing.
For example if you are living somewhere with stairs, the lung problems may mean that ground floor accommodation is more suitable and that gets you added points, or moved up a band. -

Even though your account is still live as you haven’t been logging in and bidding it won’t count towards wait time as it will be “inactive time”.
To have you banding change you will need an assessment with an occupational health team(Accessible Homes etc) and they will asses you and try and adapt your current home if needed, if that isn’t possible they might consider increasing your banding but they always try and keep you in your current home as a priority first, bare in mind even with a higher banding you may still be waiting several years depending on your area. -
