Hi I won 12k in a competition I currently get pip daily living and UC lcwra my question is can I use this money to buy a new car as my car is 13 years old and on its last legs. The new car is 11500

Well done! This will be classed as savings so you need to tell UC you received this.
If you have more than £6,000 on the last day of your assessment period then there will be a deduction of £4.35/month for every £250 or part thereof over that amount.It will be down to a decision maker to decide whether it’s ok to buy that car. Though I can’t see any reason why there would be any issues but I’m not a decision maker.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help. -
Congrats on your winnings @bobby123! Glad it means you'll be able to get a new car, the older cars can end up costing so much to keep going.
Poppy has answered how it will effect your UC payments better than I ever could. I will just add that your PIP will remain entirely unaffected as it is not means tested.They/Them, however they are no wrong pronouns with me so whatever you feel most comfortable with
