In trouble for VPN again

I've had my claim suspended again asking for proof I'm in the country. I can only assume as I haven't been as strict in using only UK VPNs when I log on to my UC again!!!

It's ridiculous and I wonder if many others have been impacted?? I've seen a few posts in the past but not for a while.

It was such a pain to sort last time as well as I can't just pop into the JC and be like "HEY I'M HERE!".

Surely burden of proof is on them to proove I'm out of the country!!

Thanks @Deppi!! And yeah I should have learned my lesson. I had my claim suspended last year for it and the evidence they asked for was ridiculous and my disabilities meant I wasn't able to comply because I couldn't go in or call them or film myself outside my house :D Ended up needing a charity to sort it on my behalf so will end up that route again. :(

Wow i can't believe this has happened to you again. I remember when it happened the last time. I haven't seen any other threads recently where this has happened again.

Are you able to contact the ones that helped you sort it out the last time? I know how difficult it is for you to contact people. I really do hope it's sorted out soon.

I don't know if you've thought of this but it maybe worth contacting your local MP to tell them what's happened.... again.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

I don't understand how they can use IP as evidence to remove your claim entirely. I can only imagine this is some automatic system that's been poorly designed to flag non-UK IPs as any human with IP knowledge would surely know about VPNs.

Honestly shocking how tech illiterate parts of the government can be. I hope you get this sorted soon.
They/Them, however they are no wrong pronouns with me so whatever you feel most comfortable with

I'm trying to summon up the nerves to message them as I don't like bothering people and they really went above last time but I might have to!!
I'm always scared to message my MP. I don't really know why, paranoia maybe but I always worry it'll end up causing more problems

The first time it happened there were a bunch of us at the same time, I think maybe they'd just switched on a bit of tech or something and it flagged lots of people. It happened a number of us. I haven't used a non-UK one since but started getting lazy about it again. It's really annoying BUTTTT I do see like that how else would they catch people being out of the country?? I don't really know a perfect answer but its definitely not this!

Utterly shocking, I think the idea to contact your MP (you could e mail him/her) and tell them what's happened ...again
2024 The year of the general election...the time for change is coming 💡

The majority of the time contacting them often helps to get DWP shifted and the issue is often solved very quickly.

There are other ways to see if someone has left the UK than how they are logging into a website. And they are far less fallible or false-positive than checking IP. If all they were doing is checking IP then it would be very easy to convince them you're in the UK by using a VPN!
