Denied for physio

I've had issues with my shoulder for ages and I now can't use one of my arms at all, as the shoulder has really limited movement coupled with extreme pain and 'snaps' back or goes weak and unstable when I try.

On Monday I finally referred myself to NHS physio as I feel I'm in a position I think I could try and attend but received a rejection this morning saying because I reported that I've had the issue longer than 6 months they can't help?! :(

Hi @Biblioklept I am sorry your self referral got rejected. Could you get a referral from your GP or can he help you. I hope you are soon able to get some help. Take care.

Agree with @Beaver79 maybe a GP referral would be better?

Oh no @Biblioklept would of took you some courage to make that appointment too, might be some shoulder exercises on utube, that you can try, I know its difficult for you to go and see people but if you can get through to your gp, might need it seen

Sadly they use self-referral here for this now but I guess GP may have a workaround. But it feels like an extra 'step' and another trip out or person I need to speak to just to get it resolved which makes it feel impossible for me :(

Could you write to your GP explaining the situation and asking if it is something he could refer you for and if he could perhaps work up to going to see him @Biblioklept It sounds like something that needs sorting out.

I completely understand you. Regarding Seeing folk.
I have no advice ( it’s best) I just wanted to say I have the same anxiety regarding seeing folk.
I prey for you to be pain free.

I feel like this is something that should have clearly been displayed as you were making the referral. I guess you'll have to go through the GP, as there needs to be a way for you to get physiotherapy.
They/Them, however they are no wrong pronouns with me so whatever you feel most comfortable with

You're all so sweet coming up with ideas for me <3<3<3 I can't cope with speaking to gp or anyone else so I've contacted a private physio and explained my situation and they're going to send me some exercises that might help and said if it doesn't they can do video calls, house calls or me go to them whatever I feel most comfortable with. I don't know how I feel about all of that but at least I have the exercises for now <3
