    Hi @Abcd1988

This sounds like quite a complex situation so it may be helpful to chat to a qualified benefits adviser about this situation. Hopefully they will be able to advise you on what the best action is to take😊

How can the ex stop you declaring where you live? Have you taken legal advice?

Did you say her ex husband is still living in the marital home?

A very tricky situation, and no mistake. It's a great pity he has that power over her, but even so, he can't just kick her out.

I don't know about England and Wales, but in Scotland, the landlord has to apply for an eviction order from the First Tier Tribunal, but only after giving the tenant notice.

Don't delay, get in touch with a solicitor.

assuming you'd have a joint claim with your partner you don't need to be on the tenancy to list it as your address and he can't stop you, in fact I don't see how he would even know you have as they don't contact landlord and her rent will already have been verified.
