Richard 3rd program last night/ horse riding

Did you see the program on Richard the third last night? They found a lovely chap with the same degree of sclerosis and then found out if he could lead a cavalry charge in full armor. Well a medieval saddle and armor improved his riding. Where do I get such a saddle and am wondering if the back protector I have always resisted would actually help me. Might leave the lance and mace for now!
