socialising

Hi everyone, how do I find out if there are any other young adults in my area with cerebral palsy. I am a PA for a mid twenties young lady who is so friendly and I would like to widen her social circle. I would like to find out if there is anyone in the local area who wants to meet for coffee or go out for a meal.

Hi LisaG,
Thanks for posting your question. Could you tell me which area the lady you support lives in so that I can carry out a search for you?
Kind regards
Debbie

Hi LisaG,
Try Sheffield Help Yourself which is a directory of local groups and organisations in the Sheffield area. You will find details of social groups and activities in the area so it's worth sitting with your lady and going through all of the listings to see if there is anything listed that she would be interested in. http://www.sheffieldhelpyourself.org.uk/default.asp
Another place to get some local information is Disability Sheffield. They are a membership and user-led organisation run by disabled people and chances are they will have lots of information about local clubs and groups. http://www.disabilitysheffield.org.uk/
Another option to consider is Meetup.com. Here you will find a diverse range of social groups and clubs. Again it's worth browsing through to see if anything on there is appealing to your lady. http://www.meetup.com/find/?allMeetups=false&keywords=social&radius=5&userFreeform=Sheffield,+United+Kingdom&mcId=c1012722&mcName=Sheffield,+England,+GB&sort=default
I hope this information is helpful and that you find some good local socialising opportunities.
Best wishes
Debbie
