Regular sore throat

Hi everyone, brother of a wheelchair user with CP here. He is getting a sore throat very very often at the moment which is preventing him from partaking in certain activities and generally restricting social activities also. We have been to the doctor before and an ENT (ear, nose and throat) specialist. They have advised acid reflux may play a part so he has been taking anti-acid tablets for a while; however I wonder if it may be something to do with him straining his vocal cords when speaking? Any advice/suggestions are much appreciated!
