Specialist Teachers

Hi, my daughter is due to start secondary school in September and has a pretty water tight Education, Health and Care Plan ( she will be going into mainstream) which stipulates 10 hours per week with a Specialist Teacher experienced with working with a child with CP, cognitively able but using a communication aid. The local authority and school have both said they do not know anyone suitable. We live in North London. Does anyone here know of a teacher with the right skills that I can approach? She is working at level 2-3 and has always been mainstreamed. Many thanks.

    Hi NikiM,

I've forwarded your question to our Regional Workers who cover London to see if they have any suggestions. As soon as I hear anything I'll get back to you.

    Best wishes

    Hi Niki,

I've had some information back from one of our regional workers.
Her advice is to contact Marion Stanton from the organisation Candle. Although she is based in Cumbria she may know of someone more local to you. http://www.contactcandle.co.uk/

She also wondered if it would be worth getting in touch with one of the London communication assessment centres to see if they can help. http://www.communicationmatters.org.uk/page/contacts-assessment-services-london

If you would like to talk to the regional worker in person please do let me know and I'll arrange this for you.

    Kind regards
    Debbie
