I am 21 years old . I have an acquired disability caused by a Stroke aged 5 - I have a right sided hemiplegia which means that I have to wear an splint (AFO) on my right leg to help me walk. At the moment, I am a final year honour student studying television at Edinburgh Napier University (Glasgow based campus)I am making a documentary about Orthotists and people that wear splints.

Hi Bethany, welcome to the forum. The documentary sounds like a good idea

Thank you. How long have you been on the forum?

A couple of years now
I have a little girl who is 3 with a disability, but no diagnosis yet. Her Physio has mentioned the possibility of AFO's in the future, as she has very low tone and she keeps flicking her feet out. It's interesting to speak to adults who can explain what things like wearing AFO's feels like. One our other community members, Noah has started a few threads on this sort of thing - might be worth looking for some of his old posts X

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I hope you and your daughter get the right diagnosis. I know getting the right specialists are an uphill struggle sometimes.
