@Richard_Scope is our Specialist Information Officer in Cerebral Palsy but he began his journey with Scope as one of our wonderful Community Champions.
You can read about his volunteer story now.
“I was an Online Community Champion volunteer for Scope for three years. I answered questions around all aspects of disability and shared my experience as someone living with cerebral palsy.
I met people in very similar situations as myself. I also learned about other disabilities. I gained confidence in speaking to a wide range of people. It also taught me that my experiences were valid and useful. The role of Online Community Champion volunteer helped me to improve my IT skills and how to better research a topic on the internet. Picking up these skills has led to positive developments in my career path – with my new skills and confidence, I have gained employment with Scope!”
