So sad

I am so very sad tonight, we learnt that a friend from way back in the day has passed away, we read about it on Facebook, we have not been in contact for 35 years now, but from the age of 16-25 we were the best of friends and even after we both married we socialised all 4 of us, he was just 63. I can't stop crying it was such a shock I'm 60 and not yet at an age when I expect friends to start dying off. Although we live some distance away we are hoping to be able to go to the funeral to pay our last respects.
At the moment my mental health is not all it could be and I must try not to let this push me over the edge.
I hope its ok to post this ?

Good morning @woodbine, I'm so sorry to read your news and of course it's alright to post about it. We're all here to listen and support you. Has a date been set for the funeral yet?
I've found some resources from Mind with ideas for dealing with the effects of bereavement which may be of help to you.

ahh, that`s so sad to hear. Even though you`ve not seen your old pal for a while, you have great memories to cherish. I hope you get to the funeral and can re-kindle some old friendships. Keep strong mate xx
