Hi guys.

Just an update really. Finally got the letter from DWP. Ive been put on Enhanced Rate for Care and Mobility till 2023. Im delighted. I want to thank all the people on this forum for their continued help, support and advice. It was invaluable. Special mention to @Matilda, Will@BenefitsTrainingCo @CockneyRebel and @Geoark. Thank you guys.
Also for anyone reading this who is just starting their PIP journey i wanted to say this, there are alot of horror stories online regards the entire process and rightly so in many cases BUT don't let that worry you, THERE ARE POSITIVE STORIES TOO. My PIP Journey has been plain sailing all the way through, obvs reading some stories gave me sleepless nights in the begining too. I sent in zero medical evidence as i had not seen a specialist for my cerebral palsy for near on 20yrs! But i clearly explained why in my form and at assessment. I work full time and i drive too. But again explained clearly. I recorded my assessment too which may have helped. The report was 98% accurate and to be honest any assumptions the assesor made i could see his reasoning too. THERE ARE GOOD ASSESSORS OUT THERE. You just don't hear as much about them because people are much more active when sharing negative news. Those who get positive news/experiences need to share so people are not put off or anxious/stressed about the process. YES there are negatives and YES there are Bad Assessors out there but YOU CAN DO THIS. STAY POSITIVE.
thanks again to everyone. Just the small matter of my work situation now to worry about but thats a whole different thread!

I'm really really pleased to hear this! and yes it's an important message. There are good assessors out there. Of course we don't hear about them so much because people don't need advice when things go well! So thank you very much for sharing your success.

I'm sorry to hear about your assessment experience @Tellytubbies, that sounds like it must have been upsetting for both you and your partner.

If there's anything we can support or advise you with, either now or going forwards, just let us know.

    Hello Tellytubbies

I'm sorry to hear that you were rushed and that you could not give a full account to the assessor of your difficulties.

It is not true that you will obtain less points because you cannot use a walking stick due to your hands.  The assessment is about walking aids that you normally or could reasonably use.  If you cannot use a stick then any walking distance should be assessed on the basis that you cannot use a stick.

    Please keep us posted

Thanks.maria.for.that.you.have.given.me.little.hope.but.still.in.my mind I've resignations.i attended my nurse today give full blood count as doctor is worried I have anemia plus thyroid check my nurse told me that many patients come in here and forget things I have to say to them on what about so and so and your headaches also the health professionals have to go on short course before they interview you also your family member should have been allowed to speak for you as to often you can forget things if you have medical problems the tablets do have side effects in your case you forgot to mention this.

PIP decisions normally take 2-4 weeks after assessment.

Have you asked for a copy of the assessment report ?
This will give you an indication of how things went.

It sounds more positive than anything being advised to get in touch with OT

It may be that OT can advise you on wet room and any other aids that will help you.
Don't  let the condition of where you live trouble you, it just goes to show that you do deserve some assistance

Please do keep in touch and we will help in any way we can
