Hi id like to someone to just confirm to me mild cerebral palsy is not seen as a disability even tho my son has been given a buggy as he can't walk far because of the pain and how it started to effect his hips ,he wears a splint ,has a bath aid to support him , i look forward to your comments thanks Graham

Hello speed to be honest the services he receives is brilliant,it was that i tried claiming disability for him ,and was refused ,ive also just been to a tribunal and was refused thanks for looking im not to sure what my next step is going to be at the moment

I was in a buggy until I was 4. Don’t be surprised if you here about Botox treatment or still need bathing aid. I can’t wash my hair by myself. I struggle with things like that at 12. Muscle lengthening is also an option. Try orthotic insoles if the splints get painful like my splint did. Try a crutch or crutches for long distance or let him lean on you if needed. Try things like swimming because it’s good physio for the muscles. Don’t be surprised as well if walking becomes worse around when he makes the main growth spurts at. 12-14. It’s happening to me. Sorry it’s long but that’s just a look into the future for someone with mild cp.

Also, when applying for DLA, put what he’d need on a bad day. That’s what a solicitor told my parents to do. It worked for them.
