Nil points for mobility!

Hi all,

I would like help. I get full care rate for the PIP. But nil for mobility. I have had the condition since birth.

I have tried thousands of times to get what I need. As the condition is degenerative.

Please can someone help. Had enough of being rejected based on a genuine case.

I have done the CAB/Council/.TRibunal/Assesment a few times. But I think the assesment centres need their eyes testing.

It was first awarded as(Disabillity Living Allowance) Circa 1997. Ridiculous system. Run by ridiculous people. Then sanctioned for two years. Nice eh. Tribunal eh!

I hold out hope. Albeit it smaller than a needle.

The condition is not going to improve and I need full allowance for the Mobility. I spend weeks on end inside my flat. As anxious about x y or z affecting my chances of getting anywhere!

I have known of Scope since i was eight or nine. I am now 36 nearly 37 and cannot get the help I GENUINELY need.

A good guide would be useful. The current system is a disgrace to the disabled community who carry the weight through their lives. Not just me.

    Do you get any mobility element of the PIP?

    I am the specialist information officer. I get the low element.

    Hi,

    It's very difficult to advise on an internet forum because no one knows how your conditions affect you. PIP isn't awarded based on a diagnosis, it's how your conditions affect your ability to carry out daily activity.

    You need to understand the descriptors and criteria for a mobility award and then see if you are eligable

    How long is your current Daily living award ?

    Did you appeal your current decision ?

    As you have an award in payment you cannot put in a new claim, but if your condition has signficanty worstened then you might put in a change of circumstance. This would mean your whole award would be reveiwed again

    It all sounds unfair but unless you the claimant meets the descriptors for PIP then no award can or will be granted it’s not an automatic transfer from DLA to PIP, they are totally two different benefits the first about your disability the second your abilities.

    I don't agree.
    PIP and DLA have the mobility part in common.
    Logic dictates that if you have a DLA high rate for mobility you will have satisfied the DWP that you cannot walk more than 50 metres. On the assumption that your ability has not changed since you were awarded that DLA element then for PIP you should get a minimum of 8 points and a maximum of 10 for mobility as that also refers to the inability to walk more than 50 metres.

    There is no rhyme nor reason why this should not happen. We all know it doesn't work that way for some weird reason.

    For the moving around part of PIP that would certainly apply... but it doesn't for following and planning a journey.

    I agree entirely but I was just looking at the mobility (moving around) element. How someone, myself included, who received the high mobility rate of DLA could ever be said to be able to walk over 200 metres during a PIP assessment is simply confusing. 

    I would have thought that the DLA award for high mobility in itself  would be enough evidence to guarantee Standard rate mobility for PIP.
