I'm so worried about my daughter she had a diagnosis of autism after being kicked out of school and getting sent to a pupils refural unit she left there and went to an art college where she had a support worker she has a talent for making things with clay she has a lot of sensory needs and had her hoood up all day long in college which they didn't approve of and she keeept getting told to take it off time and time again she couldn't handle it and left she's now 18 gets pip allowance doesn't leave the house and has developed ocd and cleans none stop I'm an older mum 56 and I haven't a clue how to help her she stopped going to camms and is in denial of everything anyone in similar position please

Hi @Layla i am so sorry that you are going through this at the moment.
when dealing with mental health it really is a minefield.
I used to work for Mind the mental health charity and i know a lot of parents looked for support.
there is a place called young minds that does offer support and information to parents, i am not sure if you will find this useful or if you have looked at the support services previously.
good luck with it all

Hi @Layla
Thanks for posting. It can't be easy for you and your daughter at the moment. Here is the link to the National Autism Society
they have a helpline and resources that you may find useful. Even though it feels like it, you are not alone. We are here to support you.

Hi Layla, i'm also an older mum, i'm 55 and my son almost 16, and just referred to CAMHs but not impressed. Hood up all the time and missing school. I've just joined this forum so will keep an eye out for your posts and I hope your DD gets to an easier place in herself, and you too x
