Can anyone tell me what is the difference,I am now on income related ESA,they only put me back on this beginning of year,as I was always on work related.Since they changed this I had my questionnaire sent to me , assessment is tomorrow as most of you know.Am I right in thinking I will not be assessed by points but by the descriptors .Have I got to fail each descriptor to still stay on esa.I am over thinking things now and getting really stressed ?

Hi,There's 2 types of ESA, Contributions based which is dependent on NI Contributions from working in the 2 years before your claim started, this isn't means tested.Income Related is means tested and claiming this depends on household income. Savings/capital affect the amount you can claim. There's 2 groups for ESA... WRAG (work related activity group) and Support Group. To be placed into the WRAG you need to score at least 15 points and the descriptors for that are here. For the support group you need to satisfy at least one of the support group descriptors the majority of the time and they are here.Or there's reg 29 for WRAG and reg 35 for support group and these are special circumstances.Good luck for tomorrow!
