Hi can anyone help..my son was awarderd pip 10 points on mobility as he cant go out alone due to mental distress..he was awarderd this after his pip was renewed in dec 2017..should he have had a letter to be considerd for the higher rate..im wondering if he may have been missed

    My son was awarderd pip mobility 10 points and awarderd low rate mobility after his reassesment in dec 2017. As he could not undertake a journey due to mental distress ..should he have been contacted for an award of the higher rate after the laws changed
    Thankyou any help appreciated as i think he may have been missed

    @ deborah6444981, Hello, your sons award for pip in 2017 would not have had any other letter information informing you that your son may be entitled to the higher rate of the mobility part of pip. Had you not been satisfied with the award notification letter then you should have made an MR stating reasons why your son should have been awarded the higher rate sending evidence to support the claim giving examples of what happened or happens each and every time your son goes out alone or tries to.

    Hi at the time he was awarderd maximum points and that was 10..but iv read laws changed and people awarderd the lower rate for mental distress would be contacted ..am i wrong ?

    Hi @deborah644981, I don't believe we have 'met' before, so hello! Here is an article I have found about this. It states they will be reviewing all claims bet I am unsure if this would mean you are contacted about a review. It may be worth ringing them. :)

    I know of the rules you are talking about but not enough to be able to provide advice. I would suggest you seek out specialist advice before you decide on an course of action.

    HI,

    Regarding the PIP following and planning a journey changes. There's no need to contact DWP regarding this. They are in the process of reviewing all claims with a decision after a certain date. No assessment is needed for this and they will simply contact you once a decision is made.

    There's no timescales for this, it's just a waiting game for all those claims. I received my letter about 4 months ago regarding this and as expected my award stayed the same because i don't claim for mental health.

    If your son is owed money it will be backdated.

    No problem. These thousands of claims to look at and everything takes time. Backlogs cause delays but a decision letter will be send once it's made.
