Health assesment

Hi, I have been called in for a health assesment with universal credit. It's the first time as I've been off 'sick' from work due to my arthritis and am looking at dismissal due to not being able to safely do my job (we have looked at adjustments and other work placements but am unable to due to pain/inflammation in both feet, hip and right fingers). Its next week and my mum was going to take me but I had a letter yesterday saying that they have authorised a taxi to take me both ways at my request? I haven't requested a taxi? I didnt even know i could do that, it would obviously be a great help to me as the assessment centre is 22 miles away 43 mins each way and no parking nearby. I'm unsure of what to do now and why they would authorise a taxi when I've not asked for one? Im really anxious about it x

Hi,They will do this sometimes, instead of the home assessment. It's nothing to worry about it just means that getting to the assessment centre will be much easier for you.Good luck.0

I didnt ask for a home assessment either? I'm so confused as the letter states that I had requested a taxi? I haven't had any contact with uc at all apart from the questionnaire and appointment letter? I'm wondering if I should call them and question it or just take the taxi. Thanks for reply x0

Sometimes you don't need to request it, they will decide for their self. It will be the health assessment advisory service that will have arranged that and not UC. I really wouldn't worry too much about it, it's a good thing that a taxi's been arranged. They will obviously pay for the taxi too.
