Hi @Martin09 and welcome to scope, how are you this evening? I'm afraid that's correct you can't under those circumstances receive SDP.2024 The year of the general election...the time for change is coming 💡

Thanks for the reply, confirmed what I thought

Would your parents be able to claim carers allowance for you in lieu of you not getting SDP? Just wondered?

Hicat-hug,
I havnt tried, they are both on pension credit combined I think so dont know if they can, would be interesting to know if anybody as an answer, thanks cat-hug -
Definitely worth looking into as you would have qualified for it had you been living alone... and nobody is claiming carers allowance for you
-
Yes that's what I thought, thanks for the reply

Two points if parents are receiving state pension they can't claim carers allowance, secondly not worth applying for SDP if you live with parents who don't also claim DLA/AA/or PIP.
however there are circumstances where they could qualify for carers premium, you would need to seek advice from CAB or welfare rights about this.2024 The year of the general election...the time for change is coming 💡 -
Thanks for the reply ,yes I think a phone call to CAB might give me a clearer picture,do appreciate the replys, thanks
