I'd read so many anecdotes of how well this worked for basically whatever ails you...tried it, didnt help at all and cost a fortune!
But as they say, one mans poison etc.
It may be great for you.
Reminds me of something I read a while back that made me smile, offer someone a pill that has been tried and tested and easily available for free on the nhs and its viewed with suspicion, offer someone something that's not tried or tested costs a lot and is more difficult to get hold of and people cant wait to try it!

I know it's not that simple though, the one thing that has struck me since joining this site is how many people are going through daily hell with pain, and as you say, finding no relief.
    Best wishes

Hi @Spursboy - I have been taking CBD for 2 years exactly. This for lower back pain, joint & neurological pain. I'm sorry I've just seen your post, but let me know if you're interested in finding out more. Mine does not cost a fortune, in fact I've just ordered 3 more bottles......a £20 bottle lasts me a month.  :)

Yes please, I assume that it is helping you?
I'm at the stage where the hospital have no more to offer and tell me that I will just have to liv e with the pain, so I am willing to try anything.

Hi @Spursboy - thank you for replying. When I started taking CBD I hoped it might help my neurological pain. After taking it for just over 2 weeks I found the lower back pain I'd had since a teenager was helped, which I hadn't even considered. I have the hypermobile type of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome which causes joint pain & my joints also partially dislocate frequently.... this has also reduced. I can't say my neurological pain has improved tho.
I buy CBD from a reputable company whose CBD is lab certified. This green oil has an additional component, CBDa, which helps with pain. As a bit of a background, I'm also a physiotherapist (tho I haven't worked as such for a very long time). I researched for quite some time before trying CBD, looking at medical papers. The studies are mainly from the USA, but do seem to show CBD can help particularly with pain & anxiety. Here's the green oil I use: https://www.simply-cbd.co.uk/product/simplycbd-green-10ml-30ml/   The 30ml bottle is the same strength as the 10ml one, but just fractionally cheaper.
The important bit....CBD is broken down by some liver enzymes that break down over 90% of prescribed medications, it's therefore important to leave a 4 hour gap between taking most meds & CBD otherwise you might not get the effect of your meds, or you might get an accidental overdose of them. CBD is otherwise completely safe. Now you can ask your GP or specialist about this, but actually a pharmacist may understand more.....ask them if your meds are broken down by the cytochrome P450 complex (the liver enzymes mentioned); if so, you need to have a 4 hour gap between taking such a med & CBD. If you let me know about any meds you're taking, I can also check for you.
Let me know if you decide to go ahead, & I would be happy to say how to start taking CBD. So many people try CBD, but don't know how to take it effectively, or buy 'strong' CBD thinking that will work, which is the wrong way to start.

hi @Spursboy have you asked your GP to refer you to the local pain clinic (at your nearest hospital), they have more options available than your GP.

Been there twice they have tried medication, injections and physio, but no improvement.

    Hi chiarieds

Thanks for your reply, please do advise as how to start as there are so many sites with differing suggestions about strenghts but not how to actually start.

Regarding medication, I did ask my GP who although not being able to recommend CBD oil could not find any interactions with what I am taking at the moment.
If you would be able to double check that would be great:
Fluticasone 400microgram/unit dose nasal drops 1-2 times daily
Simvastatin 40mg tablets - take one at night
Bumetanide 1mg tablets - take one each morning
Citalopram 20mg tablets - take one daily

Hi @Spursboy - You do actually need a 4 hour gap between taking both Simvastatin & Citalopram. As the nasal drops are not taken orally, they are no problem, neither is Bumetanide.
With the green drops I mentioned (https://www.simply-cbd.co.uk/product/simplycbd-green-10ml-30ml/ ) you put one drop under your tongue three times a day for the first week. Leave under your tongue for 1 min (or a little longer if possible) then swallow.
The 2nd week you do 2 drops 3 times a day; the 3rd week 3 drops 3 times a day; 4th week 4 drops 3 times a day, then build up each week by an additional drop 3 times a day if needed.
Remember to leave a 4 hour gap between taking Simvastin & Citalopram & your CBD drops. I don't know if you could take these tablets at the same time to make things a bit easier (you could ask your GP). If, because of your meds, you can only take the drops twice a day, that should still help.
Some people get results quickly, for others it can take about 8 weeks as everyone is different. If one week you start to feel a little worse again, you drop back to the previous week's dosage, & that should be your maintenance dosage. I take 4 drops 3 times a day, as that worked best for me, &, as I mentioned, the 30ml bottle lasts me a month, so I don't think that's expensive.
CBD lasts between 4-6 hours, which is why it's best taken 2 or 3 times a day.
The P&P is £4.95 so I tend to buy a few bottles at a time. At the moment they have an offer on where if you spend £30 you get a free 10ml bottle worth £7, so that helps.
I know people try other CBD, but I have seen ridiculous things like take 15 drops to start with, or else the CBD is just so expensive. The company I use are ethical & reasonably priced, with good quality CBD, & as I say, this green oil is beneficial for pain. We have what is called an endocannabinoid system which tries to keep the body in balance, or homeostasis. This system needs to be 'woken' up gradually, which is why so many people try CBD & think it doesn't work for them if they take too much or too strong a strength of CBD. Hope this helps, & if you have any questions I'm here each day.
If you take any over the counter meds. you should leave a 2 hour gap between taking them & any CBD to err on the safe side. However, if any of these contain codeine, then a 4 hour gap is needed.:)

Hi @Spursboy - Forgot to add that initially CBD can make you feel a little dehydrated, so drink a little extra water if you find this. This effect doesn't last very long. :)

Hi chiarieds  Thank you so much for the information, guidance and time spent answering my questions.
I have already ordered my CBD oil and will follow your instructions, will let you know in due time how things turn out.
It appears to me that I need to be patient and that it is not the quick fix many people seem to say.
    Thanks again.

Hi @Spursboy - You're most welcome. Yes, some people get a result quickly, others it can take up to 8 weeks. Do persevere, & I really hope it helps. Your CBD is delivered quickly...if not the next day, the one after. :)
