Water Damage

I shall try and keep this short.
my Housing Association, “<moderator removed>” have left my son and myself living in a rotten smelling, water damaged property.
mould is creeping up the walls. Can’t use my wardrobe water damage. But have to sleep in foul smelling bedroom.

I got out of hospital last Thursday after having a cardiac event and some other problems. Kept in 6 days, then had to come back to this place.
<moderator removed> Housing Association sent a surveyor out. He said, plasters got to come off walls around half way up the walls. I’m the bedroom, wardrobe, kitchen, bathroom, living room and hallway. The floors have got to come up.

I said, there is no way in this world I can live in, sleep in that kind of environment.

He said I could sit in my living room and they would sellotape the door up so no dust would get in. I could go stay with friends for a month or two.
i said, Steve were on lockdown? Can’t go anywhere.
im not staying here while you do this work, sellotaped in or not!!
I’m still waiting for a response about temporary accommodation! This has been going since 23 October 20. Been in hospital came out still waiting for contact?
i understand having disabilities it may be difficult to find alternative accommodation for my son and myself. My son has physical disabilities and I suffer with vascular disease, peripheral artery disease, angina, COPD. I can’t breathe in here anymore and have to keep using my spray under my tongue.

What really upsets me much more is that <moderator removed> Housing Association advertise on every bit of communication, letters, emails etc and the claim to be, “Disability Friendly and committed to people with disabilities?
Please tell me that <moderator removed> Housing Association can advertise to be these forward thinking, have empathy with anyone experiencing health issues and living trying to breathe in a mouldy ground floor flat?

Isn’t this False Advertising?
similarly, I think they’ve just made this disabled friendly, disability committed little logo up and just add it in so they can say they’ve ticked a box. It certainly feels like that.
Lets hope my son and myself are out of here before Christmas ...,, I live in hope!

It sounds really tough. How are you feeling today?

It might be a good idea to contact your local authority again and update them about your health and recent cardiac event to stress the urgency of having new temporary accommodation.

Plus, I'd consider contacting Shelter to ask what they recommend as they are housing specialists who offer brilliant advice. Visit this Shelter 'Get help' webpage for details on how to get in touch.

Just to add - I've edited out the name of the housing association from your post which I realise may be frustrating for you, as you were rightly angered by your treatment. I've done this to keep your post in line with our online community guidelines and avoid any accusations of defamation. I hope you understand.
