Aswell as having diabetes which is under good control all blood sugars under 10 I also have neuropathy I have been to doctors about my balance issues and they said I have Meneries disease gave me tabs my ears ect.
Can I still have a walking stick to stop me from falling over because of my ears?
I am not steady on my feet.

    Hi @Sparklebright63

I hope you are keeping well.  I'm not a specialist on the subject but I think you could still have a walking stick to help you balance and keep steady.  Have you ever had a local authority needs assessment?  This might be a good way of accessing the support you need.  If you refer yourself via the link on the website above, you will be contacted and assessed for services that could help in your day to day life, such as walking aids.  Maybe that's something to think about :)

Take care and let us know how you get on.

Just to add - I've budged your post over to our Disability aids and equipment category and tweaked the title to help others see it and respond with advice.

There is nothing I can think of preventing you having a walking stick

Anyone can have one if they purchase it themselves if you are wanting one supplied then as above get a care needs assessment or ask your gp

I would agree with the suggestion you get your own.  First, trying to get one bought for you  will cost more, messing around travelling here and there (mid covid?),   Second,  any chemists will have a selection, so you can consider choosing a basic wooden one, or one which folds up into your pocket, in the colour or pattern you like best.   After a while, if you find you lean heavily on your stick, you may consider different walking aids instead. NHS don't consider padded hand grips nor shock absorbing, skid-reducing ferrules.  Again, these cost very little, so it is well worth kitting yourself out with your own stuff.   But do go over to look at the special Scope  section.

I've had a WS for about 8 years now, the last one was given to me by my NHS physio, must admit now seen them in chemist, but all the mobility shops sell them (when they re-open).

Yes, you would usually get one from a physio department, as they would ensure the correct height for one for you. You could also purchase one online at reasonable cost, such as here: https://www.completecareshop.co.uk/walking-sticks/adjustable-walking-sticks/  Adjustable ones are good.....you should have the handle at the height of your hip, so could then adjust to suit you.
