Hello Scope online community

I wrote a monologue for a BBC Coventry city culture opportunity to get my monologue filmed and showed on BBC 3 if I am lucky, but am unsure whether apply or not?

I look forward to hearing scope online community about what you think my Monologue

Monologue called finding your passion.

You know, when you’re young … you are encouraged to keep learning from your failures and are all part of this learning process.

When you’re that young, decisions which you want to take your life are not yet feasible. I was born in Coventry.

I kept trying different crafts but soon lost interest in them, within a few hours doing a particular craft and I would keep doing this as many years passed by.

I was like that when I was seventeen. I was just young and foolish. I thought everything would just fall into my lap without any hard work from me. I used to blame my disability and others for this delay in my desires.

I figured that I would really have to try to find my passion. I know it may be a long road before I figure out my true passion.

I then after a few months trying different things. Eventually, I found my love for poetry, as I had struggled to express my feelings and emotion through my spoken words. I am now vibrant and full of life through my poetry writing.

I was an amazing, kind and warm-hearted person. I hoped I would find that special someone to share these special memories with really soon.

I saw his poetry writing had given many opportunities to get my poetry seen by a wider audience. After a few months of working hard at my craft, I had failures which I used as a learning process. I then entered my poetry in a poetry competition, and I was able to get my first poem published in a book.

I could not believe his luck. I was lost for words. This is never normal as I always had a word to say.

[Pause]

I now let my pen do the taking. I had covered a variety of important topics such as being born premature and the doctors not giving much hope of my surviving the night. But, I defied the odds and proved the doctors wrong.

[Pause]

I gave so many, scope online, to community members, hope and courage putting smiles on their faces, through the national lockdown, by reading my poetry.

As I had not let my disability prevent me from following my dreams. I proved my doubters wrong.

I said that it does not matter how many failures I endure, I will succeed one day. I want to show that people can succeed at their passion if they take the time to learn your craft whatever that may be.

    Hi @Globster

Do you have a screen reader, I am thinking that may help? If this is something you may find useful but you do not have access to, Google translator English - English works well too  :D

However, for this question, I will do my best to summarise it!

First thing, have you managed to read the terms and conditions? I would recommend reading that first. Then, question 1 confirms you have read it and meet all of the eligibility criteria. Questions 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 are assessing if you meet the eligibility criteria. Question 7, you need to confirm you have read and agree to the terms and conditions. Finally, in question 8, you need to confirm you have read and agree to the Privacy Policy.

I hope this helps! It does seem like quite a lengthy question. Take it step by step, question by question. Good luck!  :)

    Hi @Globster

Thanks for reaching out to us. Unfortunately, this is not an area of expertise and I am hoping others can add additional ideas. However, in the meantime, I have done some initial research for you. Some ideas of resources that could be useful include https://www.masterclass.com/articles/how-to-write-a-monologue-with-examples, https://www.spotlight.com/news-and-advice/tips-and-advice/tips-for-performing-your-best-monologue/, https://literacytrust.org.uk/resources/monologue-jam/ and https://www.twinkl.co.uk/teaching-wiki/monologue. If you prefer video support, there are lots of videos on YouTube if you type in "writing monologues". I hope this helps! But if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask us  :D

I know ever was been helping with monologue and I would also like to thank @Richard_Scope yeserday will helping me creating my BBC writer room account but I did get one of my close friends of mine as a great experience in writing a monologue says I might need to do a lot of work to Monologue to make it relates back to Coventry I may decide to not submit my monologue to the BBC Writtersroom I might wait for the next season window when the opportunity comes around next time because I want my monologue to be the best piece you can be because it tough to get the BBC read your work and really like and want to produce it. @Richard_Scope I am sorry for wasting your time.

Hey @Globster you never waste my time! We're here to support each other and I will support people whenever and however I can. Your monologue needs a few tweaks to bring it back to somebody living in Coventry. Get a cup of tea and read the BBC brief again. you can edit and shape what you have already created.
