Creating Free (or cheap) Christmas Magic

MoneySavingExpert: 20 free (or very cheap) ways to sprinkle some Christmas magic

MoneySavingExpert (MSE) have put together 20 ways to give kids some Christmas magic this year, on a budget.

I've included brief descriptions below, but follow the link to get more detail on each tip :)
  1. Drive past twinkly streets after dark
  2. Snuggle up with The Polar Express and a hot chocolate
  3. Read 'Twas The Night before Christmas
  4. Leave some clues to make it look like Father Christmas has been
  5. Warm your cockles with homemade hot chocolate bombs
  6. Gift wrap a doorway so they can burst through on Christmas morning
  7. Build a Gingerbread house
  8. Start the day in style with a special 'North Pole breakfast'
  9. Give back with a 'reverse Advent calendar'
  10. Spot Santa's sleigh whizz through the stars – thanks to NASA
  11. Start a fun Christmas tradition with 'elf on the shelf'
  12. Bust boredom by making your own Christmas decorations and cookies
  13. Wrap up for a winter forest walk
  14. Camp out under the Christmas tree
  15. Mark the passage of time with a special book or video
  16. Create a book Advent calendar
  17. Spread festive cheer with a free kindness Advent calendar
  18. Buy one special decoration each year
  19. Get out and about with a wooden or ice sculpture trail
  20. Got a printer? Make use of free Christmas colouring pages

    I absolutely love this idea! Thanks for initiating this thread @Tori_Scope. 

    I think it is all about family, kindness, and love and I don't think any of that has to cost anything. Additionally, board games and card games that are already in the house can be great fun!

    Has anyone else got any ideas?  :)

    What are your top tips for making Christmas special for kids on a budget? 
    What an extensive list and some great ideas @Tori_Scope :)     

    I think crafts and baking are always a great way to keep Christmas cheap and cheerful and allows family and friends to connect with one another. 

    I also like the point about going for a forest wintery walk. Nature is free and honestly one of the best things for our mental health and wellbeing!
