Hi Scope, I need some help and advice regarding PIP. I have been refused ny claim with zero points. I have since proceeded with a Mandatory Reconsideration and again, I have been refused with zero points. I have a number of  medical conditions and i am suffering severely. I have the back up of my Drs surgery. My specialist at the hospital  as well as My Support worker and I dont understand why I have not been accepted. I also asked the Citizens Advice to have a look at my claim before sending it in and they said that i do not need th ere help as they couldn't of completed the application form  any better. Do i just give up? as if im honest the stress and upset is adding to my depression.  Thank you for taking the time to read this.  Ilona Halpern

    Hi
PIP is not awarded based on any diagnosis. It’s how those conditions affect your ability to carry out daily activities based on the PIP descriptors.

Drs/consultants etc will have very little knowledge of the criteria. They also don’t spend any time with you know how your conditions affect you against the PIP descriptors.

We can’t tell you whether you qualify because no one here knows exactly how your conditions affect you.

Your next step is Tribunal but before doing that you should get some expert advice from welfare rights and any other agency near you. For this start here https://advicelocal.uk/
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

Thank you I will look into these agencies.  I am aware that it works on how u cope with every day tasks but even though i have given them alot of examples how my disability effects me, I still have not been awarded any points.

    Hi @ISHALPERN :)

Welcome to the community, how are you today?

I'm really sorry to hear about your PIP experience, I can imagine it's been stressful and frustrating for you over the past few months. As @poppy123456 mentioned, it might be worthwhile reaching out to your local welfare advice/support team, as they will be able to provide you some advice and feedback with regards to your application. If you did feel comfortable with going ahead with a tribunal, there is a lot of resources out there to help you with this process. I've listed a few below and I hope you find them useful :):

A lot of our other members have had similar experiences to yourself, and they might be able to help and offer some advice. Therefore, I will move your post into our PIP/DLA/AA section, in the hope that our members will share their experiences with you.

Please remember, that there is always an opportunity to go to a tribunal to progress your case, so if you have any further questions with regards to that process, please just let us know :)
