I have an adult son who has a concentration difficulty and I suspect dyspraxia and a verbal communication difficulty , which is worse when anxious.
we have never had a diagnosis .
he was employed at Remploy until closed by the government in 2010,
he has had very little employment in the intervening years, as he did actually hold down two jobs for a few months , I have been told this proves he can work, so is only entitled to Universal credit , and nothing else as he lives with me.
He is now on a waiting list for an assessment but the list is months long.
im a pensioner and my pension has to provide for both of us, I’m not entitled to anything personally , not even council tax reduction as he lives with me.
Anybody got any advice?

Hello @HHgran2 thanks so much for reaching out, it sounds like a frustrating situation for everyone involved. I've marked your post as unanswered to help our members advise you.

Can I ask what assessment your son is on the waiting list for?

Scope's Support to Work programme, which assist's disabled people looking for work, might be worth looking into, if your son is eligible.

Turn2Us also has a benefits calculator, if you haven't used it already, I hope it's useful for you.

If there's anything you feel we can help further with, please do let us know, and we'll support you as best we can.

Thank you Alex, he is waiting for a Learning difficulty /Autism assessment , I will look at your support to work program.
My main worry is who will support him when I die , I can and will leave my house to him , but he will not have the income to pay the bills if his situation remains the same.
