PIP decision and back pay

Hello all
A manager from PIP contacted us Monday to let us know that he will be making a decision on my claim today after receiving the how it affects you form the week before. I had to also make a mandatory reconsideration request as my claim was closed as I hadn’t send the how it affect you form in on time. (my claim was being reviewed after so many years). This was since sent in, as mentioned above. He said he would be making a decision that day, however I contacted pip days before, and I was told I would receive my missed payment which I should of received on 12th May. If the decision is to re-award me pip, when would I likely receive my missed payment? I’m not sure if it would likely be a faster same day payment or a BACS (3 day) payment issued from the day the decision was made? Any thoughts based on experience or likely guesses on when the missed payment would be issued (assuming that I actually got awarded pip again) would be much appreciated.

Thanks for joining, and for explaining what's happened.
I'm afraid I'm not entirely sure of the exact answer to your query at the moment, as it's not been confirmed yet that you've been awarded again.
If you'd like to explore the forum you are welcome to do so, you can browse topics using our categories page, or get to know our other members in the Coffee Lounge, where you can chat and play games.

BACS payments take 3-5 working days to go into your bank from the date they are paid. If a decision is made today and you're successfully awarded then payment would be in your bank towards the end of this week or beginning of next week. Most reviews need another assessment. What may happen if your previous award was stopped because they didn't receive the form then they may put that award back into payment until a decision's made on your review.1

I’ve received my payment of £570 which I was owed and I’ve been awarded my original pip awards. I appreciate your comment, it’s been sorted now, thankfully.
the decision was made on Monday to continue my pip award and all monies owed was paid into my account. I appreciate all your thoughts and comments. Thanks 😊0 -

Hi @kieran1999
And a warm welcome to the online community from me as well. I wondered if you could clarify a few things about your PIP claim. I note that you say "my claim was being reviewed after so many years". Do you know whether your PIP review was part of the PIP LEAP (Legal Entitlements and Administrative Practices) review process. Have you had any correspondence from the DWP explaining this? Is the payment you've received from the date your claim was (wrongly) stopped to effectively the present. Were you up to that point claiming PIP and had you previously tried to claim points in respect of the planning and following journeys mobility descriptor?
The reason I am checking is that the Leap review process was instigated as a result of a court decision which found that the DWP had been misapplying the law in relation to psychological distress and following the route of a journey. The DWP are in the process of trawling through the cases of PIP claimants for the period when the law was wrongly applied. Many people have been told that the DWP errors didn't affect their claim. In some cases this was correct but in other cases where the claimant has been told this they have successfully appealed the decision and have been awarded back payments to reflect the award that should have been made had the law been applied correctly.
I don't know the background of your claim and whether this is applicable to you. If it is possible that you are part of this review process can I suggest that when you receive your decision notice you seek advice from Citizens Advice and explore with them your options going forward. Any decision you make wont compromise the payment that's already been made to you.0
