LCWRA phone assessment

Hi, new here but have looked on this site a few times recently trying to understand the Lcw process and now thought I'd share my experience.
I handed in my first fit not in July 2021. I received the lcw forms and returned them in October due to not receiving them until the beginning of October.
I had a telephone assessment on Thursday and the nurse who I spoke with was very kind and understanding. She didn't try to rush me through the questions and made me feel very comfortable with the process. Today I had a letter on my journal informing me that I have been found to have lcwra. So I just wanted to share this for anyone who needs abit of reassuring that it is not always a negative experience with the dwp and illnesses process.

Welcome to the community @millie20 :) Thank you for sharing! It's always nice to hear from someone who's had a more positive experience. I'm sure this'll give some hope to others going through the process.

Thank you. And yes unfortunately there are alot more horror stories out there with regards to lcw and pip.
Although the process is stressful it is nice to no that its not always a negative ending.

by any chance do you know why you were able to reach that LCWRA level? i don't mean to pry into your life but it could be helpful to understand on how you were able to meet the required level

What would you like to know?
I am unable to work due to a physical problem and a mental health illness.  However, the nurse who done the assessment said we didn't need to discuss the mental health aspect as she had enough information for the outcome from my description of my physical health.

It's impossible to compare yourself to someone else because it's not awarded based on any diagnosis. It really does depend on exactly how your conditions affect you. If you don't meet any of the descriptors or there's no substantial risk to yourself or others if not found to have LCWRA then you won't be placed into this group. https://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/universal-credit-uc/uc-faq/limited-capability-for-work-related-activity
I claim ESA in the Support Group (same as LCWRA) i've been in this group since 2013 and the mobilising descriptor qualifies me.

I'm getting a little fed up with being linked to these descriptors.

some seem to not matter as much as the other

I'm sorry you feel that way but that's the criteria for LCWRA. You simply can't compare others to yourself.
In your situation you have 2 options, you can either request the Statement of Reasons and Record of proceedsing from HMCTS within 1 month of the date of the decision. Once you receive then you'll need to find someone who can take a look to see if they can find the error in law.
Or if your condition has got worse you can report a change of circumstances for a worsening of condition. You will then be referred for another work capability assessment and the process starts again.
