Brands or no brands

After reading an article that tesco are refusing to stock heinz products, due to heinz increasing their product prices. Are you putting brands in your trolleys or non brands? Me personally have moved away from brands unless they on a good offer.

That's interesting @Sandy_123 thanks for sharing, I've heard similar myself.
I think waiting for an offer is a really good idea, why spend more than you need to. Sometimes I prefer the unbranded versions of things anyway!0 -
I always buy shops own sauces like salad cream and ketchup, mint sauces etc. It's almost half the price and sometimes bigger. However when there are offers on the brands, like 4 tins of beans for 2 pound then I don't mind. Same with cereal. Tesco could be accused of taking choice away0

I think we buy what’s on offer apart from beans, some brands are definitely better than the market leader in my opinion.0

I agree that supermarket own brands can often be better taste-wise and less expensive than big name brands. I am not brand loyal so often chose a bargain brand to see what it is like. If I don't like it I can always go back to the branded stuff.0

It depends, some of the 'basic' supermarket brands are nasty, but their more expensive offerings are good and still cheaper than the big name brands. To some degree I believe that you get what you pay for.0

I slum it and make do with own brand yes, I shop in M&S every week.
Only joking
I tend to buy branded products when they are on offer. I buy whichever brand is on offer that week. It’s a good way to try lots of different brands. If nothing is on offer I go for the own brand.0 -
Some of these sauces are easy to make too, like sea food dressing is only ketchup and mayo. But over a pound on the shelf.0

We made a nice sauce using a cheap BBQ sauce, maple syrup and a splash of Jack Daniel's. Later on we saw a Jack Daniel's sauce in the supermarket for £4.30!!0

Yes I've seen the 1 your on about, that brand is expensive i bet your sauce was nice. Kind of like a sticky bbq.1

You will sometimes find that the products are made at the same place eg branded and supermarket own label they just put different label on and possibly use cheaper ingredients or like soup would reduce cream content for milk
I mainly buy own brand0
