Confused about first payment of lwrca

Hey, I was awarded lwrca on the 4th July 2022. I first gave evidence in on 21st March 2022. My assessment period is 18th - 17th every month. I know there is a 3 month wait period for the first payment. This month it wasn't in my payment so i messaged my case manager and had no reply so I called and the man I spoke to said that after my first payment my backdated money will then be sorted and paid. I then received a message from my case manager saying that the payment will be in August's pay but August would of been 5 months since I handed in my evidence. I was told last week that the payment would be in this month's pay. My case manager said that the system will automatically generate the payment for August. Is this correct?
Thank you
Thank you

The waiting period is 3 full assessment periods and it’s then paid from the 4th month after you reported your health condition. The extra money isn’t paid at all during the waiting period.
You sent your fit note in AP 18th March to 17th April because it was sent after that AP started then that month doesn’t count.
Therefore your waiting period will be April/May, May/June, June/July.. LCWRA starts from AP July 18th to August 17th and first payment will be August 24th. No money is owed.0 -
I was receiving ssp from my employer would I not have my work allowance backdated?0
-
If you didnt previously have the work allowance then yes you will be entitled to it from the assessment period in which you reported the change, so that would be from 18th March to 17th April.YASMIN91 said:I was receiving ssp from my employer would I not have my work allowance backdated? The work allowance means that a certain amount of earnings you receive each month is ignored. If you claim for help with the rent it would be £344, if you don’t it will be £573.0 -
That's great thank you. How do I get it backdated? Do I have to ask my case manager or will it be automatically backdated once they recalculate?0
-
They need to recalculate your past statements to work out how much they should have paid you against how much you’ve received. They difference between the 2 will be how much they owe you.It often takes them a few weeks to do this. Once it’s done you will receive a letter onto your journal telling you how much they owe.Just to add further, if you have children on your claim then you would have already had the work allowance so no money would be owed.0

Oh okay thank you. Do you know who sorts the backdated money is it case manager or someone else? I don't have children0

Was the man I spoke to on the phone correct that if I am owed money it would be paid after my first pay?0
-
A case manager will recalculate your statements.
That’s not correct. You are not owed any LCWRA element. Your first payment is next month.YASMIN91 said:Was the man I spoke to on the phone correct that if I am owed money it would be paid after my first pay?You will be owed some money because of your earnings (SSP) and now having the work allowance. How much they owe will depend on how many months you had the SSP for since you reported your health condition.0 -
Hi @YASMIN91
I hope that the above comments have helped to clear that up for you. If there's anything you're still unsure about, please do let us know.
As you've mentioned SSP and LCWRA, I also just wanted to check in to see how your health has been, and whether you're receiving enough support to help you manage your health, especially if it's been more difficult to deal with lately?0 -
Just a quick question my case manager said last month that my first lwrca should be paid this month. I spoke to her this morning and she's now saying it could be next month and I'll have to wait to see if the system has automatically generated the payment this is correct?0
-
Also this month would be 5 months since I gave my sicknote in0

Yes but the waiting period is 3 full assessment periods and because UC is paid 1 month in arrears you receive the first payment on the 4th month.YASMIN91 said:Also this month would be 5 months since I gave my sicknote inAs advised herepoppy123456 said:You sent your fit note in AP 18th March to 17th April because it was sent after that AP started then that month doesn’t count.0
