Hi ,
I had my pip assessment yesterday , today my go called me with concerns about self harm passed on from the assessor. They called and highlighted our conversation. I was taken aback , can they discuss this ,I thought all was confidential.
Thanks

Hi and welcome to the community
Yes this can happen if the assessors are concerned about your well being
As a medical practitioner they have a duty of care to ensure your safety2 -
As advised on your other thread here https://forum.scope.org.uk/discussion/97121/pip-assessment#latestIf there's concerns regarding your mental health then yes they can!

Hi @princejewelheidi
Welcome to the community!
I'd imagine that this may be a part of their safeguarding process, as the others have explained. I can imagine that it might have been a bit worrying for them to have contacted your GP without first consulting you, however.
Was the conversation with your GP positive? Are you receiving any support to help you manage your self-harm?2 -
Hi yes , I have spoken with my gp today , I was just taken aback to know that pip can do this , I thought all was confidential .0

Thank you all for your help1

It'll only be certain circumstances under which they'll contact someone without first consulting you @princejewelheidi. They could probably have communicated that with you a little better, though, it sounds!

In the PIP2 you complete it says that DWP may contact the professionals that you provide details of in order to obtain additional information.princejewelheidi said:Hi yes , I have spoken with my gp today , I was just taken aback to know that pip can do this , I thought all was confidential .1
