PIP rate change back pay.

Hello,
I started my application 31st March 2022.
I got my decision letter in September and my back pay.
A few weeks later I got another letter saying the rate had gone up from April 2022.
The next payment I got was the new rate.
I'm just curious as to why I didnt get the new rate for my whole back pay if that was the rate from when I applied?
Also, whether I should get back pay for the difference?
It's only a few £ a week but adds up...

When you applied on 31st March it would have been the rate for 2021/22. The benefits increase doesn't start until the first Monday after 6th April. This means that the rates this year didn't increase until 11th April.

You would have received the old rate up until this date and the new rate after this date, which would have been the money they owed you. The new rate would have then applied to your 4 weekly payments.

Thanks for your reply, however, I dont believe this is what happened.

The whole of my backpay was at the old rate, I'm sure i worked it out when i got my letter.

That's why i thought it was odd that they sent a further letter with a different rate.

I'll check when I get chance.

Then all you can do is ring PIP when they open tomorrow morning.
