Hi, my partner has recently started getting carers allowance for me and I thought it would be £302 every 4 weeks but the payment has only been £278 for the last two payments. Is this right? There is no income from an employment so he should get the full amount and there are no deductions other than around £15 per month for an advance he had which comes out of the UC payment.

    Your husband will receive 13 payments a year of CA. This is divided in to 12 months and gives a figure of £302.03 per month hence the deduction.

    Unless they are paid weekly. (some choose 4 weekly) Carers Allowance is a weekly benefit and UC is monthly. To get the monthly amount you need to times £****.70 by 52 and then divide it by 12 and that will give the monthly amount of £302.

    Does your UC include the carers element?
