Can my son start a claim whilst living with me? He’s 18 but will be finding somewhere else to live

That other thread suggests the son is still in full time education, which means it won't be possible to claim UC as a student in these circumstances.

OP, is your son still in education from when you last posted? If not, is he actively job seeking?0 -

No worries, it's easily done when members start multiple threads with the same questions.

He’s stopped the course work. So will he be able to do his own claim0

If he's no longer a student have you reported the changes to UC because of your child element?

So it won’t affect my claim then because hes starting to claim for himself , I’ve told them about his course alsopoppy123456 said:If he's no longer a student have you reported the changes to UC because of your child element?

The child element for him should have now ended anyway. Any claim he makes will not affect yours. He will not be able to claim for help with any rent while he's living with you. As he's under 25 then he'll be entitled to £292.11/month, if he's not receiving any earnings from working.
