Hi everyone,
my name is Elena and I am considering hiring a PA that could support me with some activities I find harder because of my disability. I would like to pay this person on my own. I am not particularly familiar with laws and regulations and I am really struggling to understand what my responsibilities as an employer would be. I am wondering if any of you has been through the same process and has any suggestion to share. Are there associations that help with managing contract, payslips, taxes, etc.? Thank you very much

Thanks. I have taken a look at its website. If I am correct, Disability North is based in Newcastle. Is there any support offered in the North-West?0

These people manage all the finances for my brother's care. It looks as if they help recruit carers too across the north west.
They have always been helpful when we have spoken to them.0 -

Did you see the pages on Scope's website about employing a PA? http://www.scope.org.uk/support/tips/disabled-people/employing-pa Also Skillsforcare.org.uk has a great toolkit for employing PAs and explains things in more detail. http://www.skillsforcare.org.uk/Document-library/Employing-your-own-care-and-support/Employing-personal-assistants-toolkit.pdf It's a big responsibility becoming an employer but a worthwhile one if it ensures you have the freedom and flexibility to arrange your own support.
