Hi @suejones111
Disability Living Allowance is normally paid direct into your bank account every four weeks in arrears. It can be paid weekly in advance if you have qualified under the special rules.

Hello and thank you for your reply. I am intrigued as since having DLA I had payment into my bank account every month

Also what are the special rules for weekly advance payment if I may ask0
-
From reading the government website, I believe the special rules apply for people with a terminal illness, but hopefully one of the advisors will be along soon to help!0

Many thanks
I'll await there replies0 -
Hi Sue
Yes, Special Rules has a very particular meaning in benefits terms. It means that a person might die in the next 6 months.
When someone thinks that this may apply, they should ask their doctor or specialist to issue a form DS1500, if it is appropriate.
They should then (copy this first in case it should get lost in the post and) send it in or give it in at the jobcentre for the appropriate department - normally DLA or PIP.
PIP will then be awarded quickly, with no assessment, and at the higher rate, at least for daily living.
I hope that this clarifies the situation.
Best wishes

Thank you very much, but my overall concern and query is regarding receiving DLA every other month, as his was not the case the years previous0

OK Sue, have you had a payment for 8 weeks or so, then? (Sorry if I have misunderstood your enquiry) Gill

Hello there
I have been having payments for a number of years. However suddenly the payments are now missing a month. DWP say the payments are a month in arrears but surely that wouldn't explain a month being missed every other month?
Thank you0 -
Hi Sue,
As Gill and Sam have advised, DLA is usually paid every four weeks in arrears. I can't think of a reason why it would be paid every other month. It can be paid weekly under the 'special rules' for terminal illness.
Have you started getting any other DWP benefits? Have you been asked to claim PIP? When you get your payment, how much is it (and what rates of DLA are you supposed to be on?) Have you been in hospital recently at all?
Sorry to ask so many questions, but I'm hoping we can help you work out what is happening.
