[Update 03/12/2019: this service is currently not in operation.]

We've launched a new education programme for secondary school students aged 11 to 16. We want to help schools fulfill their requirement to educate students about social issues and promote inclusive environments. We'll be doing this in one hour workshop sessions where we introduce the work of Scope, share our End the Awkward films and discuss disability, stereotyping and bullying in an open and relaxed space. We want to challenge attitudes and End the Awkward before it begins. It's much easier to change a 13 year old's opinion than a 30 year old's opinion.

At every session Scope staff will be joined by a disabled role model. Our role models come from a variety of backgrounds and have a variety of impairments. We want to represent as many disabilities as possible, highlighting that there are both visible and invisible impairments.

If you have a connection to a secondary school that might be interested or would like to become a role model yourself then please e-mail rolemodels@scope.org.uk or visit the Scope Role Models website.
