Hi, my name is frozenpelvis! extending PIP for a year because they have not been able to review me

I filled in my PIP review in March 2024, last week I received a letter from the DWP saying they were extending it for a year because they have not been able to review my form. My PIP would have ended in October 2024. I am quite concerned that they are doing these extensions because the Government is getting ready to make PIP means tested. The only thing that has changed is that I have several more chronic conditions. I was also told that PIP reviews are 52 weeks behind, what is actually going on.

Hey there @frozenpelvis and welcome to the community. 😊

As said above, I'd not worry about the extension. There's such a huge backlog currently for reviews that they're having to extend most peoples awards. So it's nothing to worry about. 😊

Is there any more information as to whether PIP is going to be means-tested? I feel sick with fright about the possibility.

Hey @zipz no there's no information regarding PIP being means tested, that was the last governments idea and was only an idea, so please try not to worry too much! We should hear something on October 7th.

Means-testing seems to be taken for granted on another forum. I really don't know how I'd survive. It wouldn't be a choice between heating or eating. I couldn't do either for long.

It's all just people throwing their ideas about currently @Zipz I'd try to keep your mind occupied by other things until we actually have some definite information from the DWP. Otherwise you'll just make yourself sick with worry.

I got my forms sept 2023 sent mine back Oct 23, got a letter on June saying it had been extended due to delays. Got a text this morning to say review completed after a paperbased assessment. My claim was due to run out Aug 2024. So they are behind but they actually completed mine only a month late.

vikki66, I wish that would be the case but the majority of politicians nowadays are more fulfilled by growing their egos than helping the people. Very few actually listen to the people are for the people; they are career politicians.

But yes Vikki66 we need to be positive.
