    Hi Sunflower Valley,

Sorry to read of your sadness and feeling of frustration. It might be very helpful for you to actually tell your Dentist (or person performing the procedure) of just how you feel actually feel and how anxious you are about this process. Providing you do not have any adverse reactions and it is with in your medication regime, try taking some mild pain relief (such as Paracetamol) just before the procedure, this will start to work once the local is wearing off, you might also think about requesting a one off tablet to help lower your anxiety level. Deep breathing, if your condition enables you to do this can also be of great benefit. Deep breathing a few times does help to lower stress as it enables the body to release the endorphins which help counteract the one's increasing your stress that you cannot 'help' but to produce due to your 'fear'.

Hope that some of these 'help' you. The previous comments are all very good ways of trying to combat and alleviate some of the stress, just us the one's that you feel you can use with your individual condition and which you feel you might benefit from the most. Good luck with the procedure, I'm sure you will be relieved when it has been done!

I am also overwhelmed by the amount of appointments I have coming up and organising vaccines I can get quite panicky the only advice I can give you is just deal with today. And just keep putting one foot in front of the other one step at a time. It often helps me to make a list for today and cross of the things it then doesnโ€™t feel so scary. I find journaling helps just write down all your feelings. Maybe write a letter to yourself as if you are your best friend. Anyway I am thinking of you and wishing you peace of mind and love โค๏ธ

Hey @SunflowerValley, it can be difficult to keep up with it all. Needles can also be scary. I am not bothered by them, but sometimes my partner can be. She's found that just having a little chat with the dentist, doctor, nurse or other health professional beforehand really helps. Just let them know your fear and that it's a problem and they will often take extra care with the whole procedure.

Sorry for the late responses. Been busy, had appointments, college, and things.

@figraspberry41 thank you for the the advice, I will have try and use them techniques. I will let you know how it goes. I do not have the needle until next month anyway.

@osrbsj thank you. I really don't want to go to my appointment tomorrow morning. It's making me very sad.

@Jimm_Scope thank you for the information. I don't mind most needles. It is just the gum one. I need to have one on my ear lobe and I'm not scared for that one (although I have had my ears pierced but they said it will hurt less than that anyways).

Hi @Bluebell21, my mum is going with me. I am just fed up with appointments.

I have a vaccination in the afternoon as well and my sister is having one too but she might be bringing her stupid boyfriend swell. She is nearly 15 and she thinks everything is about her and her boyfriend. It's so annoying. I hate it when other people come to my appointments who aren't my mum and dad and sister.

Hi @Bluebell21, Yeah. Once I had a pre-op and was there for 5 hours and had a ton of things done. I just hate it when I have to have tests. It's a blood pressure appointment so I will probably have to have bloods done and my blood pressure done but hopefully then it is just talking.

Just seen yesterday's post. Hope your appointment goes well for you. Easier said than done but try to think positively and calm. Don't forget to advise the person doing the work that you are really anxious about it.

    Good luck!

Hi @figraspberry41, thank you, my appointment was actually okay. They even discharged me. I thought they might have given me medication.

Hi @Albus_Scope, thank you, it went okay. They discharged me.

I am having a sleep monitor on tonight which is making me very sad and I'm not going to be able to have a good nights sleep. I've just had enough of everything. I'm getting stressed and anxious.

    Hi Sunflower Valley,

Thank you for your message. I'm pleased for you that your appointment was successful.

I hope last night was not too bad and traumatic for you. Hopefully it was a one off and you can now take a few 'deep breaths' and relax. Wishing you well and hope you are able to release some of your anxieties now.

Hi @Bluebell21, thank you. It was just last night, although it was very annoying and woke me up a few times. I also woke up at 6:10am and couldn't get back to sleep. Still a little sad as I don't feel my best. I also had to reschedule a scope extra meeting about finding a job. Hopefully a good nights sleep and a day out tomorrow will do the trick. Thank you for your kind words! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Hi Sunflower I'm so sorry to hear that you have had so many appointments lately.

In regards to the injection in your tooth you can ask to be referred to get sedated for your procedure.

Hi @durhamjaide2001, thank you. I really want to be sedated, although I don't know if they will be willing to because they are drilling it and then filling my tooth. Do you think they would? And would they do it at the dentist?

they can't do it at the dentist they don't have the equipment. How many teeth are you getting out?

  • SunflowerValley
SunflowerValley Online Community Member Posts: 347 Empowering

Okay, they are only drilling a bit of one tooth and then filling it.

oh they might refer you to another dentist who can sedate you if they are only doing one tooth I was told they won't refer you to hospital for 1 tooth
