Dreading the next UC meeting

Hi all,

I am my husbands full time carer and we are in the process of switching over to UC, we had to have a meeting with them to confirm our identities because we did not have enough paperwork to prove it.

My husband suffers with the following:

Degenerative Disc Disease
Psoriatic Arthritis
Autism/Aspergers
Enlarged Prostrate
Psoriasis
Tinnitus
Mental Health

So for me to get him there was a nightmare, it takes around 30mins in a taxi to get there, 25mins sitting in there and another 30mins to get back home.

This caused huge problems with my husband with his back, sitting in the same spot for that length of time, his anxiety went through the roof due to the pain and his autism + mental health.

He suffers with back pain daily but after that meeting from sitting in the same spot for so long he spent two days after the meeting in bed trying to ease the back pain.

He also went within himself, the pain in his back, the arthritis and all his other health conditions just got the better of him.

The worst part is i have to tell him we have to go back there for something called "First Commitments"

They said this for us to provide a fit note and to explain how UC works.

I am absolutely dreading to tell him, they clearly saw that he was in distress in the first meeting and now they want him to do it all over again.

I have provided the fit note from his GP to UC's website which shows all of his conditions and that:

His not "Fit for work"….and the period is for 90 days, it also says "I will not need to assess your fitness for work again at the end of this period"

This is a nightmare

Your husband can request a reasonable adjustment for a telephone appointment, rather than attend in person. He will need to put a message on his journal to ask for this.

He must continue to provide fit notes until a decision is made on the work capability assessment. Gaps in fit notes can affect when the extra money is paid from if found to have LCWRA.

Many thanks @poppy123456 again for your help, i will request a reasonable adjustment for a telephone appointment and see if they will accept it.
