My youngest has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

Hi, I'm a mum of two. My youngest has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy. 
She is a pre term baby, born at 31 weeks so not entirely unexpected.
I'm just having a look around for info, I'm sure I'll have tons of questions in the future

    Hi @Tabbytink,

    How old is your youngest, have the doctors been able to tell you much yet?

    CP is a bit  of a mixed bag, it affects everyone differently.  I was premature and quite tiny (sometime ago now though).

    The great thing about children is that they don't care about the labels medicine gives to their disabilities and they can be very resilient.  Having an older sibling might be a great encouragement for your youngest and help in lots of ways.

    When I was growing up, I knew there were somethings I couldn't do, but most of the time, I was finding my own way of doing things.

    Thanks all, she is 28 months old. We had her physio assessment yesterday and she did really well.

    She has been diagnosed with spastic CP which is affecting her hips/legs more than other things. I guess to start with we just roll with it and take it day by day.
    We have been referred to the osteopath and orthopedics as well as community paediatrics and for a hip x ray. I think it hit me yesterday, just how much of a journey she is starting.

    So I think I'm in a similar boat to Tabby 
    my little boy has just being diagnosed with spastic CP 
    he was born at 28 weeks he's now 4 
    its a lot to deal with x

    It must be a lot to get your head around! I dont have experience of this but I know as an adult being diagnosed with a life long illness, it was a massive shock and getting used to the routines of hospital appointments and treatment was quite overwhelming. When it is your child, that must be really tough.

    There is lots of information here about getting a new diagnosis for your child.
