He is getting better now and been able to apply for few roles and has been able to secure 2 interviews. He came across the below and wants to apply for the below Travel Discount Card.

https://tfl.gov.uk/fares/free-and-discounted-travel/jobcentre-plus-travel-discount

He spoke to his Work Coach on Friday. However his Work Coach said they is another card which is half price for buses only, which he can issue. He said the above Travel card (which is valid for Buses, Tubes and Trams etc), can only be granted if you are starting work. He stated that he enquired for another applicant who was on Job Seeker’s Allowance (Contribution based), But DWP Finance Team declined it and said, it can be granted only if the applicant starts work.

Is the above correct? Has anyone come across this before? Or is my friend being denied unfairly?

We have just sold her property, and she has temporarily moved in with me until I can find and BUY her own bungalow, max 6 months. She receives State Pension and Pension Credit; will she now lose the Pension Credit? Is this based on my income? As I have no income - I am a full-time student. As I understood it, she is seen separately from my income anyway? However, I just spoke to DWP, who said she would lose it? Surely that's not right? Any advice greatly received. Why would she lose it.?

However, since living on my own (start of July), my payments became every 2 weeks due to 'admin' error. However, it has now been 17 days since I was last paid and there isn't any signs of payment. I will call CA today but it is like speaking to a brick wall, the people I have spoken to have no compassion and constantly blame the issue on something that isn't to do with them!

Prior to this, I made a formal complaint but I am getting so frustrated with having to keep chasing my benefits that prior to my move were fine - I was paid regurarly etc.

Has anyone got any advice, please?

So I got an email from my council asking me if I still lived here as they say the info the DWP shares with them has changed and now my address is listed as "private and confidential".

Google AI says this is done during fraud investigations. Its not clear if that is true I havent been able to confirm it

Now I am due to attend a hearing next week, its the second part of the hearing and initially the judge told the DWP to recalculate my benefits and to disregard the cost of living payments. The DWP paid out on this in Oct, but didnt provide the workings out for months and when they did neither I or the CAB could make sense of it. Ive been reluctant to withdraw the appeal until the DWP admit they should have disregarded the cost of living payments, but they havent issued the relevant form ( LT203c ) to say they are not challenging further (but they have paid).

Anyway as I say thats next week… Im hoping to cancel if I can get clarification from CAB.

The month after they paid the back payment, they started making the same mistake again. I asked for a mandatory reconsideration and Im still waiting (Oct). Two weeks ago they paid me six months of UC that they had had some sort of freeze on (they didnt deduct the COLPs though).

So when Google AI said fraud investigation I started wondering what they are up to. Ive had a hell of a time over last few weeks with my banks randomly declining payments (Ive got phone phobia so its hard to find out whats going on. But the conversations I have had on the online chats have been really weird loops of nonsense. So could they have said something to my banks that caused increased security on my accounts?

That said I had some weird phone calls and emails over last few days too, internet links number to scams. Nothing on my accounts looks suspicious to me. Ive frozen my cards to try to be safe- but its all quite stressful.

I am getting a bit paranoid maybe, but it is weird right?

I applied for PIP last year and got a rejection letter a few days ago. I did not get my report even though I requested it twice. I suffer with diagnosed ADHD, depression and anxiety and am in the process of getting an autism diagnosis.

I am extremely nervous for mandatory reconsideration. I wrote a 5 page letter and added a few pieces of evidence, stuff like dental records to show my poor oral hygiene, letters saying I have depression and anxiety and also my ADHD diagnosis and path forward for medication.

I knew they were bad for reports but I didn't expect this. I feel like a phone call wasn't even needed with everything they put in my report! Things like I was able to concentrate for an hour. I was a pure mess, hyperventilating and leg bouncing. I kept stuttering, apologising and referencing my notes. I scored 0 for everything which is so frustrating.

I sent off my evidence today plus the letter and I had even sent in my diary too. I got told to start writing one so it has about a months worth of entries in there.

I know its based on how my disability effects me, I am just looking for advice on this all.

I can only wait until it comes back and this might just be an anxiety thing. If it does and I get awarded, great. If I don't, I will fight this at tribunal. My questions are -

How likely is it that with all the evidence I have newly supplied will I get awarded?

Can I get someone to speak on my behalf at a tribunal such as the CAB?

Is it even worth fighting this much?

Sorry for such a long read.

I was admitted to hospital on the 1st of Feb and unfortunately was so poorly ended up in icu on life support for 8 days them had a further 2 weeks on the ward b4 discharging myself yesterday. The thing is do I report the admission and if so what will they want to know, I just don't want to have to have another review I am on highest rates for both elements for pip and am happy with this I'm just worried if I inform them of my recent stay they will automatically do a review. This isn't my first icu admission last one was a few yrs ago but I know alot of things jave changed since then.

ANY ADVICE WELCOME - I have no idea what to do, it seems like they are making up rules in order to cut people's support?

I have a number of disabilities and conditions that qualify me for Access To Work support - and I have been awarded a Support Worker for the past two years as a freelancer.

I just had my renewal assessment and the Support Worker has been cut entirely, with the ATW case worker claiming the assessor never mentioned me needing one in their report. The assessor told me during the assessment that they were writing down my need for one as the first recommendation in their report as it was obvious I needed one. When I told the case worker that he tried to backtrack and maybe some of the report was missed off, and that even if the assessor HAD recommended it, ATW could still decide to deny it. I asked how that denial decision would be made - he said he couldn't tell me and all the info is on their website.

The case worker also asked me to fill in a form detailing what my support worker does for me - which I sent over this morning. This afternoon he got back to me saying they actually now don't allow for support workers to do the majority of the tasks I listed, so even though he hadn't heard back from the assessor yet, he was recommending I would only get a few hours at minimum wage to help set up some work equipment. The tasks I listed are all in line with actual examples from the ATW resources and website.

It seems like, even if the assessor report comes back saying I was the most in need person of a support worker in history, they've already made up their mind to deny it? Does anyone know if/how the internal guidance has changed recently? Are there any orgs people can recommend that help individuals deal with this process?

Does this mean that my next review will be an AR2 form? I'm just curious what parameters the DWP use to determine whether claimants are given the ar2 form or the ar1 form. Also, how do they decide how many years are until the next review??

I'm just very nervous and I am sure many disabled people are especially with conditions that are lifelong. 💗

If let's say after i submit this ar1 review form, and my PIP continues but my next review is very soon.. do I have any grounds to appeal on the basis of ''reviewing me frequently doesnt make sense because my condiiton is degenerative'' ??

I’ve been sent a B16 from DWP. I was self employed (doing TikTok shop) but this was during a time I wasn’t well mentally and it just wasn’t realistic for me to continue doing this so I stopped a gooood while ago. I contacted HMRC in summer and explained I don’t do it anymore and I earned £700 from the few months I was doing it. They told me ok they will remove my self employment and were understanding and explained I wouldn’t need to fill a tax return as I didn’t earn enough. I claim new style ESA (support group) I also get pip. I’ve looked at the form and I can’t figure it out or understand it. It’s asking for my partners details and if he’s self employed? He’s not? The benefits I get aren’t ones that would reduce with my partners earnings. I also didn’t claim new style esa until march 25. Meaning I was no longer active on TikTok. Do I have to fill it in? How do I fill it in? I’m so mithered by it. I’ve called DWP and can’t get through for love nor money. Can anyone help if I do need to fill it in? Cos I have no idea what I’m doing?

Dear online community, I would kindly appreciate your advice.

Following the recent visit from my jobcentre advisor who informed me of the ESA underpayments related to the underpayments in premiums for 8 years that DWP owes me, I am due to be paid £25000 of lump sum. I was very shocked!

I was also confused at the same time as I was told explicitly by the advisor that the DWP is not allowed to treated this underpayment as an income or savings. I read somewhere that DWP gives 52 weeks before declaring this underpayment as savings. Is that true? This money was rather overdue so it should not be seen as savings or income. So, how do I treat that money? Is any transfer of that underpayment amount from one bank account to another treated as "deprivation" in the case of universal credit application? I worry that if I do so, this other account will be treated as "savings" if I transfer some money in order to avoid having more than £6000 in the current account tied to my ESA.

I also worry that because I receive the ESA as a part of my support for an ongoing cancer treatment and being Deaf and because I am due to migrate to the universal credit; if my bank amount exceeds £6000 then I am losing the benefits. I am not being greedy but that money supposed to be paid out to me when I really needed during the cancer treatment and afterwards. I also worry about cancer returning and if you sign off the ESA or UC (to which I need to migrate very soon), it will be difficult to restart it.

As DWP will start carrying out the bank account checks on people who receive the benefits, your advice would be appreciated.

Kind regards,

I am on UC plus the basic PIP daily living and in the LCFW group due to my ongoing mental health problems.

Do I need to let them know? I have not even started yet and have to have a DBS check and do some basic online courses first. I will have to see if I can cope with those first and then would consider starting the volunteering.

Really stressed over if this will affect my benefits and if the DWP will assume I am okay to work if I do manage to start volunteering.

I think it is a positive step but I am not doing it if it will push me into having to go back to work when I am incapable of doing so.

Please help and does anyone else have personal experience dealing with the same?

I receive Universal Credit and PIP. The PIP primarily due to my mental health affecting my cognitive function.

Two years ago I have been through bankrupcy, in the form of DRO, again primarily due to mental-health and consequent addictions. It was a debt charity that helped put that DRO through, and they helped managed/plan my finances.

Now I have a call with Universal Credit booked this week, with one of their Claim Review Agents, as they've asked to go through my bank statements (which I had sent in to them at their request) during a 60min call.

In recent months, due to my mental health issues feeling worse (cognitively), I have been transferring my monthly Universal Credit payments to my parent's bank-account, so that (A) they can manage my essentials for me such as paying bills and ordering my online groceries shopping, and (B) it makes sure I don't overspend with my tendencies to fall into addictions (i.e. to avoid risk of bankrupcy again).

But…

In doing so, it has come to my attention that I have possibly broken DWP rules by transferring virtually all my Universal Credit money to a family member each month. Which I now have come to realise isn't actually allowed unless I have officially nominated them as an 'appointee' (and so consequently my transferring money to my parent each month may get classed as 'Deprivation of capital'). So it's been a genuine mistake on my part, especially as I was only planning for this to be a temporary arrangement (i.e. for my parent to manage my spending only until my mental-health improved again). And I certainly didn't want to attempt anything that may be deemed fraudulent. I will explain all the above to the Claim Review agent (as to why I've been transferring money to a parent's account each month). And btw my total bank balance is way less than £6000 each month anyway.

But am I likely to be 'sanctioned' for this mistake, even despite my acting in good faith (i.e. I've been transferring my UC funds to my parent's account to avoid running the risk of falling into overspending/bankrupcy again whilst my mental health isn't right)?

I can also provide evidence of discussions with my GP as to fact i've needed my parent to manage my finances for me due to my mental health. And I also have record of emails with that debt charity from a couple of years ago.

So have I acted reasonably enough to avoid being 'sanctioned'? And if I do ask for 'mandatory reconsideration', would it still mean that my next upcoming Universal Credit will get affected regardless?

What should I be prepared to discuss during the call and is there any other evidence/points that I should mention to them?

Thank you in advance.

It’s been 6 weeks since Dwp received my pip mandatory reconsideration. I got 6 points on daily living which was frustrating. The assessor said I would benefit from an aid for undressing but then scored me 0 points on dressing and undressing.. isn’t this a contradiction? I also expressed how I always struggle with budgeting and that I’m in debt because of it and my rent is paid for me so that’s managed for me. I have a caseworker from citizens advise who also sent a supporting letter originally stating I struggle to manage finances but scored 0 on budgeting. do you think it will go in my favour? Also how long has everyone else waited recently for a decision?

I'm currently looking into this, as I need to leave the UK ASAP for my mental health, but all I can find online is vague advice stating that:

it's possible under the Common Travel Area if you're a UK or Irish citizen residing in the other country, as you'll have the same rights as a native citizen.

You're supposed to call the DWP Exportability team to discuss your move when it's confirmed.

The UK 'Can you claim benefits abroad?' checker claims you can't continue PIP in Ireland, even though this directly contradicts the terms of the CTA.

I can find literally nothing else, which is not helpful for planning or research. And if you're a disabled UK citizen who wants to move abroad, Ireland is one of the few options open to you if you dont have wealth, a foreign spouse or a second passport.

Does anyone know where I can get specific, detailed advice on the process that doesn't require contacting the DWP?

Thanks!
