PIP Review - No Change box has gone
Hi I'm a carer for my wife, and we've been given the lovely Christmas present of a PIP renewal form (Yesterday - due first week of Jan). She's been receiving PIP/DLA (previously) for nearly 20 years. Previous forms had a box to tick that said no change where that applies, as well as a clear divide between the Care and Mobility sections. I have previously just ticked the no change box, this has gone I've noticed.
Is it okay to tick yes and putting no change from previous assessments - Still unable to or needs assistance with xxx category for all the care Elements as we have the higher care award already?
We have some new evidence and support so I was going to fill out for the mobility side. Luckily despite the time of year I've been collecting evidence as I knew it would come, and the previous two have been right on top of Christmas as well.

@crimsonsun The last review form for personal independence payment (PIP), which the DWP began issuing in November 2024, seems designed to encourage claimants to give as little evidence as possible and thus risk losing or reducing their award. The original idea was that the form would be much shorter and easier to complete, at just 17 pages.
The new AR1 form, however, is much more like the form you made your initial claim on. It is 25 pages long, excluding notes. It is advised to give the same level of detailed and up-to-date evidence in a review form as they did in their original claim and not rely on simply saying “No change”. So, from that point of view, the new AR1 form fits better with this approach to giving evidence.
I personally would not type no change, but you have in the past with no detriment to your wife's award.

I was under the impression I only need to fill out what has changed, as they have all my previous forms and evidence (pages and pages of it). So for assessment and speed of processing, its the case of just giving highlights on things that are the same stating that, and detailing changes so they can see what's new and what's not. The form is also shorter - 25 pages verses 34?
Those boxes are way too small to cover everything and if I wrote everything out you'd be sending a book which given the limited time an assessor has to process forms would mean large amounts of information would be overlooked and missed. Short and concise has been the previous advice in these forms. I am really not sure I have the 'spoons' to basically reapply its a nightmare form.

I have not seen the new form (long award + extended) so looked into it. The new form is longer than it was going to be! It was going to be 17 pages originally. I have retyped my original reply to you but the advice is the same. This advice is given by disabled organisations too.
I agree that the DWP have all previous evidence. If you have indicated no change previously and members do, please continue. I was only stating what I would do. You have had no problems prior so you fill out the form as you have done. You could write a few words indicating no change without saying it.

@crimsonsun Mines due too. I'm totally stressed beyond my comprehension esp after my last pip phone assessment. Truly traumatised and that was almost five year's ago.
Are you asking for an extension to allow you more time to get it done and posted? I would. I dread the post every single day. Good luck to you.

Oh absolutely, I always get an extension because you can't trust Christmas post, I also buy a stamp and send it first class rather than second, its simply not worth risking otherwise.
Assessments are the worst, it causes my wife months of stress and anguish either side of it. I handle as much as is possible so she doesn't have to but still. We've not had an actual face-to-face assessment for years thankfully, 8 I think. Its why I'm concerned about these new forms, if things haven't changed and medical evidence supports that you previously generally didn't need to have a new assessment. Its highly stressful until you hear back that's for sure.

Thank you, I will do a bit of both. I'll report back and let you know how it goes. If we have problems I'll appeal and continue on. We've gone through it all before.

Thank you.

@Trevor_PIP Does the DWP retain old claim PIP forms and evidence along with the result?
0 -
Yes. The DWP actually state it in some of their documents. They used to state - don't send evidence you have already sent because we will have it.
Retention of Evidence: The DWP can use information and evidence from previous PIP claims when assessing new claims. This means that if you have submitted evidence in the past, it may still be referenced in your current claim.

The new form says exactly this. IE don't submit evidence you've previously submitted.

Thank you for saying so. It's on the new form too!

Just popping in to say a warm welcome to the community @crimsonsun and I hope the renewal form isn't too overwhelming and I wish the best of luck in the review

Thank you Mary, I intend to get it done today. Its not going to be very fun, but I've been prepping basically since we did the last one for supporting material, its just a horrible process but I can't leave it hanging over Christmas, I'd not be able to relax.
Thanks for such a helpful community. :D

hi can I ask is this an AR1 or AR2 form. Expecting our sons some time next year and want to be prepared, thanks.
0 -
AR1, took me a few moments to find it.
1 -
Thank you, our son had an o going award from 2017 and it said he would be contacted after may 2027 to see if his needs have changed. So I am anticipating some time next year to get a letter. Hoping his is the AR2. Good luck though and all the best.

Your son's form will be a AR2 form with having an on going award.
2 -
How do the AR1 and AR2 forns differ?
0 -
The AR2 form is shorter as it is used for on going awards (10 years) where the claimant's disabilities are not expected to improve.

That's what I can anticipate in 2029. Is it wise to submit the whole sorry saga plus evidence again?
