UC

I have a Limited Capability for Work and Work-Related Assessment appointment in the next two weeks or so. I have a very recent diagnosis of ADHD, which I have logged on my UC Journal, but I am aware that this is a new condition and probably won't be considered at my assessment appointment. I wondered whether the assessment…

I sent a message to the duty manager at my local job centre yesterday and somehow my UC work coach has seen it and said that she's discussed it with her manager and apparently i can't change work coaches, which is a load of rubbish as my fiancé has had his changed either 3 or 4 times at least without his permission or…

Hi everyone, I am currently claiming Universal Credit (UC) and am planning to start a degree with The Open University (OU).I’m trying to figure out how this affects my UC claim and. Since OU is distance learning, it is often classified as part-time, but I want to make sure I don't run into any issues with my work coach…

I have been trying to find a job in my hometown that's within walking distance from my home, but most places want drivers, experienced carers and experienced retail assistants and high level qualifications. My highest qualification is my NVQ Retail Level 1. I also have GCSEs grades D-G and a GNQV health and social care…

Hiya everyone, I sent in my complaint to the complaints department at the DWP over a week ago and I'm still waiting for a reply. I asked for a new advisor as I don't feel comfortable with my current advisor and I'm dreading my appointment on Wednesday. I'm still waiting to hear back from my fiancé's cleaning manager about…

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice from people who have been through this. I recently received my WCA assessment report done over the phone, and I've been awarded 0 points, despite severe physical back and wrist issues. I have a very strong paper trail, but the assessor completely misrepresented my case:…

Hi, I'm currently waiting for the outcome of my Work Capability Assessment to find out whether I'll be awarded LCWRA, and I have a question about how it might affect my future plans. If I am awarded LCWRA, would moving out of the family home and living independently affect my entitlement? I'm autistic and also experience…

Hi, I have been dealing with the horrific DWP since 2020. To be honest it's mainly UC (ugh) but having never ever had to deal with benefits until 2020 I sure have learned a lot. I also know how hard it is trying to deal with all this alone. Sorry if this isn't the right thing to say here but I am happy to try and get some…

Hi everyone, I have an appointment with an advisor who I don't like on the 21st as she told me at my last appointment that she was deliberately trying to scare me to getting a job. I've tried contacting my local job centre's complaints department about her, but they've not responded. The advisor had frightened me that much…

I know I can disregard Income when declaring capital for UC. The examples the DWP give for this in official guidelines seem to say different things. The Pearl example seems wrong to me as she doesnt appear to be able to disregard income at all. But even using the other example its not at all clear how Income is worked out,…

I am trying to find out if my housing benefit and council tax benefit will stop after inheritance. I understand for every £1000 over £10,000 pension credit calculates you as £2 a week income deducting this from your weekly pension credit. I am currently in receipt of pension credit guarantee allowing income of £325. If my…

Hi, I won my LCWRA tribunal last week (I know it’s early days still) - I’ve received my copy of the decision but UC are saying they’ve not received the decision yet. I’ve asked if I can upload my copy as proof as I’ve read this can speed things up but they’re saying they have to have explicit permission from the courts for…

Hi, DWP underpaid me four months ago. I raised a complaint on journal per online guidance in the https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/department-for-work-pensions/about/complaints-procedure#ask-for-your-concern-to-go-to-the-complaints-team I have evidence HMRC and my employer have been in discussion and my employer…

Hi, I've joined this community because I'm disabled and on Uc. I've searched for help and advice regarding minimum earnings and self employment and it's affect on my benefits. Hi, earlier this year I was granted a 6 month capital disregard in the funds from the sale of the home I lived in. I have been searching for an appropriate home since and had to move in with family (the house had to be sold as it had belonged to my late Mum, it had been my home for 4 years). I had secured a small mortgage…

I then voulterrilly moved to UC , where I was put on to new style ESA and lcwra I knew I was going to make the change to UC around 6 months before and I knew that my account that my ESA went into would be no good in regards to receiving my UC as…

Hello all, confused as usual! I'm currently on basic UC awaiting a WCA. I have just seen on my journal that I have an appointment coming up for a Work Coach Health Appointment a few days after my WCA. Are these health appointments mandatory or voluntary? Google says voluntary but the wording on my journal makes it seem…

Hi I have a review coming up and ive been told that the m9ney that I earn on surveys etc I have to declare,I usually save it until it gets too bigger amounts then I cash out. Have I unknowingly been committing fraud? I'm so scared right now.

Friend has had a situation arise which I’d appreciate any advice on. They had a rent increase in August 2025, they rent from a private landlord. They didn’t report the rent increase due to genuinely not knowing they needed to as their rent is above LHA allowance anyway so wouldn’t change the claim award They reported the…

Hi, last week is the first time I'd seen this. I due to go to a face to face financial review. Is this something which is likely to come up during the review? I wonder also if there will be greater focus on getting people who are classed as low capacity for work back into work. Thanks.

I would like advice on UC and going abroad. My assessment period is 22nd to 21st of the month. If I go with my mum to see my brother in Australia when should o go and come back without losing
