Hi I’m after some help for mandatory reconsideration.
i helped my mum with her application and she’s just been refused scoring 6 points.
i helped my mum with her application and she’s just been refused scoring 6 points.
She was awarded 0 stating she could manage her medication. This is incorrect and was stated in her assessment- I put up all of her medication each Sunday ready for the week ahead and then each morning I go down and give her them. I had to start doing this as she was forgetting to take them and getting confused with what she had taken.
So I feel they may have just made a mistake?

Is this a PIP claim? If so and you disagree with the decision you can challenge this by first requesting the Mandatory Reconsideration. (MR) You should put this in writing stating where and why you think she should have scored those points. For activity 3 managing therapy or monitoring a health condition... for managing medication by either using an aid or needing supervision, assistance or prompting, it's 1 point for activity 3b. So even if she did score a point here it wouldn't have been enough points for an award. At least 8 points are needed for any award in either daily living and/or mobility.Where else do you think you should have scored those points? It does help to have some understanding of the PIP descriptors and what they mean. This may help. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/personal-independence-payment-assessment-guide-for-assessment-providers/pip-assessment-guide-part-2-the-assessment-criteria

Thank you so much for replying.Yeah she also only scored 2 marks for washing and bathing however she can not get in or out without support and can not wash her hair or upper body alone. As well as this she only scored 2 for dressing and undressing however she requires daily physical help do dress her upper body0

You need to explain why using an aid doesn't help and why she needs help to do those activities. Include a couple of real world incidents of exactly what happened the last time she attempted each descriptor that applies to her.Adding detailed information such as where she was, what exactly happened, did anyone see it and what the consequences were.Just because she needs assistance, it doesn't mean she'll score extra points for this.0

Thank you so much! That really helps
medication - I’ve included example of her forgetting to take it if I don’t come down to give her it which made her really poorly
and hair washing - I’ve included examples to as well as bathing. Will update when she hears

Just a waiting game now I think. Does anyone know if pip text the outcome of a mandatory reconsideration or is by letter only0

It will be a letter @Patta11, you can read more information from Turn2Us about it, including how long Mandatory Reconsideration notice usually takes.
Let us know if we can help with anything further

I requested MR in January 13th. I’ve received a text message saying they’re received my MR and they will make their decision by 23/2/2023. Today (30/1/23) I’ve received a letter that they agreed with my MR and increase my PIP to enhance rate for daily living although they can’t change for now my mobility for now. As my mobility is significant worse that was on my assessment day I’m considering to call change of circumstances but not sure if I should this or wait 3 more years for renewal 🤷♀️ anyway, they will pay me money back from the day I applied till now and then every 4 weeks I will receive enhanced rate as normal. I know some people said here that they will pay off from the day I’ve send MR letter but I will get money from the day I first apply for PIP last year.Patta11 said:Just a waiting game now I think. bogsa said:my mobility is significant worse that was on my assessment day I’m considering to call change of circumstances but not sure if I should this or wait 3 more years for renewalYou must have been experiencing the worsening of conditions for at least 3 months. A worsening of condition doesn't automatically mean you'll score more points for a higher award or be entitled to any mobility part for the first time.If you report changes they will send you another form to complete and the whole process will start again.bogsa said:they will pay me money back from the day I applied till now and then every 4 weeks I will receive enhanced rate as normal. I've never seen that be advised anywhere here. If i see such advice i would correct it and then flag it to a member of the scope team as incorrect and misleading advice. As you found out when requesting the MR or Tribunal (if it's a new claim or change of circumstances) you will be owed money from the date you rang to start your claim, or from the date you rang to report the changes. If it's a review started by DWP then in normal times the changes take place from the date of the original decision.0 -
