Hi,
I hope someone could help.
Sent my fit notes or applied by first time  23Aug/2022. Telephone assessment done 09 /Nov/2022. LCWRA awarded 14/Nov/2022 I get paid UC every 8th. I’m very confused if I am being owed any money. Please find the message DWP worker sent.
If anyone could help I would be very grateful and thank you for your wonderful help.
A decision was made that the additional element for LCWRA is awarded after 3 full assessment periods following the award (the relevant period). You were awarded LCWRA on 09/09/22 so the 3 full periods start from 02/10/22 and run through to 01/01/23. This means that the additional element will be awarded in the period 02/01/23-01/02/23, payable on 08/02/23.
I hope this explains. Thanks. She says it was awarded on 09/09/2022 when I got my phone assessment on 09Nov/2022 and the letter with the award was sent 14Nov/2022 via UC journal which also  says I don’t have to send fit notes anymore etc. I am very confused.

There's a full 3 month assessment period waiting time. The extra money is then paid from the 4th month after you report your health condition, providing you sent a fit note within 7 days of this and continued to send them without any gaps until a decision was made on your claim. Providing you sent a fit note without any gaps until a decision was made on your WCA.

If 23rd August was the date you reported your health condition and sent your first fit note then your waiting period is.. Sept to Dec... LCWRA starts from assessment period Dec 2nd to Jan 1st and first payment will be January 8th. This means they owe you 1 months LCWRA element.

Hi Poppy thank you for your answer. When I submit my application I submit my sick note which was from August22 until November21/ 2022. (GP said the maximum time per fit bite is 90days) So my sick notes were NOT expired until they made their decision. In the LCWRA award letter it states I don’t have to submit anymore fit notes. (Cancer). Thanks for your help so they owe me 1 month then. Kind regards.

Yes 1 month because first payment will be 8th Jan and not 8th Feb like you were told by UC.

Hi @poppy123456. Hope you kindly help as you always do.
I have received my UC statement for February payment. There is just one month of LCWRA payment. Where should I go or what should I say regarding the additional element they owe me as you say. This is really draining. I would never understand why this government make things so difficult for us the disabled people.

Put a message onto your journal under the payment section and tell them that the waiting period started from when you first reported your health condition. This means your waiting period will be Sept to Dec and first payment should have been Jan 8th 2023.

I wouldn't have expected the Jan payment to be included with this months statement because money owed is usually paid separately. I should have advised you to put the message on your journal in my previous comment so apologies for that.

    Hi @poppy123456,
I sent a message via my journal as you advised.it’s confusing he says first payment, but I can see my first payment coming back this month in the statement . I want to know about the month they owe me.🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ I definitely will never understand how it works. Thank you for your help. This is what I get from them:

    Hi Stefano,

You were awarded limited capability for work and work related activity on 09/09/2022 the first payment will be included in your next payment.

    Kind regards,

    Hi @poppy123456
likentoy advise they owe me 1 month and I think they do. Is somewhere I can go with this matter to be  checked further he keeps saying:

    Hi Stefano,

Looking at your claim you are not owed an underpayment for this as you were first awarded this on 09/09/2023.

    Kind regards,

I don't know why they awarded it from 9th September. If you receive your payment on 8th of each month then your assessment periods (AP) are 2nd to 1st of eveything month. You reported your health condition and sent your first fit note (23rd Aug) in AP Aug/Sept, which doesn't count because it was in the middle of your AP.
Therefore your waiting period is Sept to Dec... LCWRA starts from AP Dec 2nd to Jan 1st and first payment should have been Jan 8th. My advice is based on the information you gave.

    Hi @poppy123456
The information you have is the correct one. I have just checked it again on my journal. But he keeps saying I am not being  owed anything as you could see.
This people from DWP are the most cruel people in the world making the vulnerable to suffer more as if we don’t have enough.
Is anywhere I can go with this complaint? Many thanks. For your help @p@poppy123456.

You can request the Mandatory Reconsideration (MR) on that decision. Tell them the date you reported your health condition and the date you sent your first fit note. Also put that your calculations it should have been paid from AP Dec/Jan and first payment would been Jan 8th.
