I am not disabled, but am here as my sister has recently become disabled after having a cardiac arrest, heart attack and a severe stroke. I'm not sure where to go to help her, but I want to help her as much as I can.
I hope it's OK for me to join.

So sorry to hear about your sister's emergencies @pipsqueak!! How very worrying for her (and you)! She's lucky to have you looking for ways to help her.

What kind of assistance does she need??
Hello, she lives in a council flat on the second floor, she has asked the council for a wet room but they have said that they can't do that for her as the flat she has isn't suitable for her. The thing is she can't get into her bath as she has no mobility on her right side at the moment, but is gaving physio to improve that. She now has to go on the list to get a suitable place to live, but until then she won't be able to have a bath or wash properly. I don't know where to turn to get her help.

Good afternoon @pipsqueak welcome to our great group.
I am so sorry to hear about your sister, bless you sounds like your really at a loss as to what to expect.
As it been very long ago since your sister had the stroke ? Not sure how it works nowdays but have you tried to get your sisters doctor involved to see if there is any help any one can give you on what your sister will need.
Is your sister claiming any benifits yet ?

    Hello @pipsqueak

I'm so sorry about your sister's health. I would suggest applying for a needs assessment with social services, they'll be able to help with things like healthcare and equipment.
